I've been attending Vicky's Thursday Pilates group for several months now and I can't recommend it enough. I started as company for my husband who has a persistent bad back, and we thought pilates was the way to go.
My husband's back is definitely feeling the benefits, and so am I. Enough that I've recently begun to attend the intermediate class on a Wednesday as well as my usual Thursday class.
The classes are mixed, and include a variety of ages and abilities so don't feel you're too old / too young / too unfit. I'm in my late 20's and consider myself reasonably fit and flexible, my husband is the same age but due to his back has a quite limited range of motion. We both get something out of the same session.
Vicky is a very knowledgable and patient teacher who knows when to push you, but won't let you do anything that may hurt you.
In short, try a session. If it's not for you then you've tried it, but instead, like me, you might find yourself looking forward to the next class! More...
I’ve different pain issues and restrictions with other exercise types and had pretty much given up on being pain free. I was diagnosed in with a disc bulge recently and told “oh it’ll go eventually”, with this I decided I needed to take control of my own health and found Pilates for pain. I can highly recommend Live Well Pilates as it's really helped me manage the back pain I've suffered for years. I feel much stronger and more flexible than I have for a long time.
I joined Vicky's class to help with my back problems and i am so glad i did, my core strength is so much better and I have less issues with my back. I didn't know what to expect as it has been the first time I joined a Pilates class after I had my back injury but I can certainly feel the benefits now. Vicky is doing a great job combining all the different abilities within the class! I got more core stability and I am much more aware of my posture.
