THE STUDIO & HOUSE LOCATION
The home/studio created from a family house in 2015 offers a flexible location within easy reach of central London, comprising:
A dedicated studio suitable for portraits and fashion or product shoots.
A well-lit open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with movable furniture, suitable for lifestyle, interiors and food shoots. Sliding glass doors give direct access to a secluded outdoor entertaining area.
There is also a bedroom that can be used for shoots, and plenty of props on hand.
There is a choice of green outdoor locations within five minutes of the studio by car – either glorious Richmond Park or the beautiful Barnes-Chiswick tidal stretch of the River Thames, flanked by hanging trees on one shore and Regency architecture on the other.
Roadside parking is available outside the studio, and Mortlake station is 10 minutes away on foot; regular trains take 25 minutes from Waterloo.
Liesel Bockl Photography Q&A
What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Working with light to find the most flattering approach for the subject as well as making the subject feel relaxed and comfortable. Every shoot is different and I really get excited about finding the best approach for each shoot. I work with many advertising and fashion clients so quality is very important to me. I know it sounds dull but 's really crucial to have the right equipment and experience so you can manage unexpected situation to make sure your images are spot on, creatively and technically.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
For corporate clients I usually require a simple brief outlining all the necessary requirements as well as any useful samples. I worked as an art director before becoming a photographer so I know the importance of working to meet the client's needs as well as understanding that the images are only a small part of a "bigger picture". It needs to work with everything else. For family or portraiture photography I will discuss the shoot in advance and get a feel for what you like and what you are after. Sometimes I make suggestions and send some samples of what I think might work best. I live in a very green area by the river with many great locations for shooting so happy to make suggestions based on what is close to me.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety of shoots I work on in the studio as well as helping other businesses meet their potential. There are so many incredible business stories I have come across since I started my photography business. I find it very inspiring and lucky to be a part other people's journeys as well share my own.
