Kempton came to our Golden Wedding anniversary party in Milton recently and wowed our 70 plus guests for more than 2 hours with his close-up magic. The youngest guest there was 11 and the oldest was 96, they were all left open mouthed. Not only that but booking him was hassle free and he kept our anxiety at bay as the date of our do approached by making sure we knew he had our date in his diary for sure. How long have you been interested in magic?
Since I was a very young child - some of my earliest memories are of watching various magicians on TV!
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
Either close-up magic or a stage act can be requested.
Close-up will involve magic with everyday objects such as bank notes, coins and even someone's phone if they wish! Card magic will also be likely, however this will not consist of long, drawn-out, mathematical tricks, everything performed (whether that be cards or every day objects) will be quick and visual magic, making sure every guests gets to see a wide range of effects if they wish, not just one or two.
The stage/parlour act consists of a much larger presented act, with a running theme throughout and lots of audience participation. (Note: no guests will be made fun of or made to feel uncomfortable at any point whilst on stage).
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the reactions and looks on people's faces, it makes all of the hard work of getting to this point 100% worth it! I also really enjoy hearing guests stories about magic they have seen, and sometimes they will even show me an effect too!
What inspired you to start your own business?
The feeling I get when I perform is indescribable, my passion for magic and performing is the reason I decided to start performing, it's the best job I could ever imagine!
Why should our clients choose you?
I am extremely reliable, punctual and like to make the booking process as easy as possible for clients. I also believe I give a good deal, performing a wide range of effects for each group of guests, and making sure everyone who wants to see magic has been seen before even thinking of leaving the venue.
I will arrive dressed smartly, and will never make jokes at a guest's expense, and will not make any guests ever feel uncomfortable when they have been chosen to help with the magic.
Close-up magic
A style of magic usually seen on TV from magicians such as Dynamo and David Blaine, but this time it isn't on TV, it's right in front of your eyes, a couple of feet from you!
Stage/Parlour magic
A show full of magical moments that gets everyone involved without the fear of embarrassment or having to do something they're not comfortable with. Performed for a group of people with a big ending!
Restaurant magic
Close-up magic to be performed for guests on busy nights whilst they wait for their food, making their waiting time seem lessened and their overall experience more enjoyable.
