We had our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at McGovern Centennial gardens. We searched for a caterer that could help us with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres for our cocktail hour. After meeting with Lavada, they helped us put together a plan and menu that would best fit our needs. The tasting was at their beautiful office where we were spoiled by the chef with wine and our selected hors d’oeuvres. We ended up ordering the Indian beef skewers, goat cheese palmiers, mini empanadas, meatless meatballs, and mini crab cakes. Everything was delicious! On the wedding day, they had servers walking around with food, water, and sparkling lemonade.Jim Benton and his team clearly have experience catering large and upscale events. We were so glad they took on our small cocktail hour with so much attention to detail and made us feel so special on our wedding day!Lavada was the sweetest! Jim and Jeff truly are the best! My fiance and I used the "JJ's" to plan and cater our wedding, and I couldn't be more pleased. Jim Benton of Houston did an excellent job with our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Â My siblings and I spent a year planning this event and it was extremely close to our heart. Â Jim Benton of Houston provided a very flavorful, mouth watering, gourmet tasting for my mother months before the event. Â In addition Kris was able to coordinate the valet, cake, flowers/table centerpiece and all wait/bar staff. When they arrived at the venue they were surprised with some challenges finding the kitchen area and prep area to be extremely small and not very sanitary. They were able to overcome the challenges and have our event go smooth without any guests knowing of the issues. Â Kris responded to every text, phone call, email and the occasional smoke signals. My husband and I had our Key West reception last night. Â Elizabeth, Scott, and the whole crew were incredible! Â The site visit provided great ideas , which I implemented. Â From working with a difficult parking situation to difficult food preferences, they were incredible! Â We had a wonderful evening and Scott was a wonderful manager, I didn't have to worry about anything. Â The crew was professional, they were prepared and dealt with electrical issues. I can't say enough good things about Jim and his crew. They are sweet as can be, they make you feel like family. They are quick and take EXCELLENT care of my customers. Last minute requests are easy for them but it'll look like they knew about it for months. The food... Ohmygosh. There aren't words. The presentation is amazing and it tastes even better. I'm a customer for life here, I've yet to find anyone with better food and that's more accommodating and I deal with a ton of caterers. I love them! More...
