We stayed for 4 days thursday to sunday for the wedding of my daughter and son in law. It was simply an amazing weekend. From checking in to checking out the staff could not do enough for us. My room, which i shared with my 4 year old twin grandsons, was roomy with the most fantastic views of the ocean. We had our own balcony which was very secure for 2 little boys to go on with no worry of them falling off or over.
The day of the wedding was brilliant, every need was catered for and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. Even those guests not staying at the hotel were treated like they were hotel guests.
The food was fabulous and everyone had a lovely time. We partied into the early hours.
My daughters photographs had the most beautiful backgrounds from the gardens to the ocean. Thank you to all the staff

We stayed at the Imperial last weekend for our wedding. From the minute we enquired about booking our wedding to the minute we checked out everyone has been helpful, friendly and accommodating to all our wants and needs.
Jess was absolutely fabulous in the run up to the wedding and dealt with the many emails and phone calls quickly and efficiently.
Mark on the day was amazing, he did everything in his power to make sure our day ran smoothly and everyone was comfortable in the rising heat.
The rest of the staff were always helpful and friendly, even when our dj turned up late on the Friday evening following a breakdown on the way to us, in the back of a low loader that must have been the noisiest low loader I've ever heard. They helped us unload all the equipment despite it being almost midnight without blinking a eye. Nothing was too much for them to help with and they constantly made sure we were satisfied with everything, rooms, food etc.
Our first night was spent in a deluxe room with seaview and it was roomy, with a balcony and nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge.
We then moved to the bridal suite (room 110) which I can only describe as an apartment in itself. With bedroom, living room, bathroom with separate bath and shower. 2 balconies and a vendra. With absolutely spectacular views of the bay.

David and I just wanted to drop you a line to express our heartfelt thanks to you and your team for what can only be described as the best day of our lives. As you know, The Imperial is a very special place to us, so to be able to share such a magical day in our favourite place with our family and friends around us, truly meant the world to us both.

From when we first booked the wedding, all that time ago, right up to when we checked out the day after the wedding, the support, guidance, service and attention that we have received from every member of staff we have come into contact with, has been nothing less than outstanding. Any request we made was honoured; nothing was too much trouble and for that we thank you so much.

As with any wedding, I can imagine that it's natural to feel apprehensive about so many things not going to plan, and if I'm honest, I was certainly no exception. I was worried about the gift bags being delivered to the right rooms, room allocations, the food, the set up, the piano being in the right place, the list is exhaustive but I needn't have worried, EVERYTHING was as it should have been. I can only begin to imagine the tireless effort that you and your teams must have done to behind the scenes, to make sure our special day was nothing less than perfect, and it was.

We would like to pass on our special thanks to Zibi and his team in the kitchen for pulling off an amazing feat; the food was of an impeccable standard, piping hot, and served as requested. We had so many people come up to us on the day, complimenting us on the quality of the food, and I have to say how impressed we were with it all, right from the canapés at the drinks reception to the main food, to the evening fish and chips (a real crowd pleaser). Our social media was literally clogged up with pictures of our wedding guests' food, so that must be testament enough as to how impressed our guests were. Thank you Zibi and team, we know how hard you worked on the day and to the lead up before, we are so grateful.

Robin, you are a true professional in your work. Everything ran so smoothly, we really were lucky to have you at the helm on the day, making sure that each element ran effortlessly. Nothing was overlooked, nothing had to be chased up, nothing was as it shouldn't have been. As the day progresses, I began to relax, confident in the knowledge that everything was calm, organised and under control. I knew you wouldn't let us down, and you didn't.

Jess, what can we say....countless emails being bounced between us; pictures, ideas, requests and questions, all answered without fuss. I truly don't think the term
'off piste' has been used quite as often as with this wedding, we really hope we didn't cause you TOO much of a headache! We couldn't have planned it without you and your expert knowledge and guidance and we will forever be truly thankful for everything you have done to support us.

The hotel itself was on form, looking polished and fabulous in the sunshine (weren't we lucky that we were able to have photos on the terrace in short sleeves, and that it wasn't the week after under a foot of snow!) So many of our guests had never been to Torquay before, let alone The Imperial, and literally almost all of them have said that they will be returning again, as they were so impressed with the hotel. I lost count of the amount of times throughout the day and since, that people have told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to, and I'm pretty sure they weren't just saying it either. We have had the most amazing feedback and thank you cards, praising the hotel for the food and service, so for that alone, we know we chose the right place, in fact we knew that nowhere else would be good enough.

Could you please pass on our special thanks to all the waiting staff who worked in the Palm Court during our wedding breakfast. The service was friendly, attentive and professional from start to finish, one of the finest examples of customer service we have ever witnessed. David and I are lucky enough to have travelled across the world, staying in some of the finest hotels and sailing on some of the grandest ships and I guarantee you that the service we received at the wedding breakfast was comparable to anything we have experienced before. Even the small matter of the fire outside didn't spoil the atmosphere of our guests inside, everyone was still looked after....in fact, I think it was an added element of entertainment, and we even got our picture taken in a fire engine! (Thanks for keeping us, and the hotel safe).

So, what more can I say; you promised us that the day would be in safe hands, and indeed it was. We can't wait to get back to the hotel at the end of this month, and each month after that, to continue to make wonderful memories in our 'happy place'. You all provided us with a day we will never forget for as long as we live. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Jamie and David Gunn.

2nd stay at The Imperial. This time spa package included. I love this hotel with all its faults. But we had a room next to dogs and every time the owners went out they wouldn't stop barking. My only big complaint is why you have to pay any extras for different breakfast and the car park! More...

We came here for my boyfriends birthday and booked the winter spa break package with an overnight stay. I paid extra for the upgrade to a deluxe room with a sea view and balcony, it was worth every penny. The hotel is beautiful and has a classy feel to it, there are many places to enjoy the view whilst relaxing in one of the bars (which are pricey but you would expect that). We pre booked our treatments before arriving: A Facial and Head, Back and Shoulder Massage, both were fantastic. The rest of the spa facilities were lovely, including the jacuzzi and steam room; my only downfall was the changing rooms because they are in need of a facelift. The one shower is cold and dark, doesn’t look very inviting and the changing room itself is open plan, not everyone likes that.

For lunch we tried the Red Pepper Soup and Eggs Benedict from the all day menu, both fairly priced and tasted amazing! The service was professional and what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Unfortunately, we could not say the same about the service in the restaurant for our evening meal. We were seated by the supervisor, who was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, though the standard of service went down hill from there. The waiter appeared to lack experience of the job to be serving in a 4* hotel which was disappointing, we have received better customer service in chain restaurants. We had the pea soup for starters and the pork belly for mains, which were faultless and the creme brûlée for dessert that wasn’t so nice. The wait between each course was reasonable until we had completely finished our desserts. We sat and waited for 30 minutes, being unsuccessful in catching the waiters attention, so decided to get up and leave, this swiftly caught his eye. Finally, after mentioning on numerous occasions that it was my boyfriends birthday (on the arrival date) and requesting small things to make it special, I was disappointed that no efforts had been made to persue my requests. On the whole, the evening meal was good, but the service let the experience down.

Breakfast the next morning was beautiful and a completely different experience to the evening before, the waitress was attentive and couldn’t have done anymore for us.
