One Windmill Workshop with Heather at Imageree and I understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Heather is passionate about her art, and explains it simply and lucidly . What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
For me, it's some good quality light and most of all a great working relationship. If we gel, then the photos just come.. Relaxed, natural shots are achieved through our skills to work together and enjoy the moment. The one thing I always love about shooting weddings, it the relationship I have with the client - its close, frank and important. You need to communicate to me what you want, and its my job to give that to you - it's like a good friendship, and my reward is your delight at the service I've provided - magic.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What would you like to use your photographs for, i.e. the type of media? This is important so you receive the necessary size and resolution.
What kind of style do you like?
Are you on Pinterest? If so, we can share a board for inspiration
Do you have a graphic designer and would you like me to deal with him regarding artwork?
What do you love most about your job?
The one thing I always love about shooting weddings, it the relationship I have with the client - spending time before the wedding is vital as I get an understanding of whats important to you. You have your own style and its all the bits that make you unique that help me decide how I'll present and edit your photographs. I dont just whip on a batch edit - I handle each photograph in turn so you have a collection of images like no-one elses. Communicate with me - tell me what you want, as it's my job to give that to you - and when I do, I'll be there for you when those vital photo moments arise again!
What inspired you to start your own business?
People said I was good with a camera and a nice person to be around. It wasn't my idea actually, but I took myself off to Uni and when I was done, I thought "I really wanna make a go of this!" I wanted to make a difference so that not everyone was subject to the up-sell. I wanted to give transparency with no surprises on cost - thats why you pay what I quote and not a penny more. Also, everyday is different and it keeps me entertained!
Why should our clients choose you?
Honesty and integrity. As a service user myself, I'm aware that any customer is entitled to make any choice, and that we are all different. I'm not a sales person - I'm just someone who wants to make people happy with their choice. I go the extra mile when need be and I'm always on the end of the phone.
