Architectural Services

Great help, would be a pleasure to work with them.

Q&As

There are two critical elements to a loft conversion, Floor to ceiling height, and access. Generally, if you have minimum 3 metres of height from the attic floor to the internal ridge of the roof we can get a roof conversion to work well for you, providing we can get access into the roof space. The biggest challenge will access is that you want to add an additional story to a house that wasn't intended to be there when it was first designed, this means that the original floor plan layout wouldn't normally have taken account of the space required for accessing the new roof space. The impact of this is that it is like that you are very likely to lose some space in a first-floor room to provide the space required for a staircase and access to it. You may have to give up some space to obtain more. We work hard with our clients to make sure that the impact of this is a minimal as possible.

This process is really dependent on the particular design of the loft conversion but generally the following happens:

1) New Structural steel work is installed if required to take the load of the new floor and Roof
2) New floor deck is installed to provide a safe working area.
3) Part of the existing roof is removed to allow the construction of the front dormer wall and side cheek walls.
4) the new roof is installed.
5) The dormer is clad in the proposed finish ( Render, Cladding, Hung Tiles)
6) Windows are installed to provide a watertight envelope
7) The internal walls are built
8) Plumbing and Electric can be installed
9) Plaster-boarding and plastering can be carried out
10) Doors, skirtings, architraves installed, bathrooms installed and tiled, decoration carried out and floor finishes installed.
11) Handed over to Client.

We love working with a variety of Client from all walks of life. The most enjoyable and fulfilling part of my job is making a difference to our Client, and providing them with a solution to their current challenges.

Whether they are a young family looking for more space for a new arrival, an older Client who is looking to downside and make their new house a home, or a property developer who is looking to drive more value out of their existing portfolio, we listen closely and carefully to their brief and budget and provide a solution that fits.

I read a lot, and stumbled over a book about 4 years ago in an airport that really changed my perspective. Tim Ferris's - The Four Hour Work Week

The book is not really about only working 4 hours a week (Although like everyone else i wish that was possible!) but is more about efficiency, removing unnecessary processes, and providing autonomy and freedom to employees. It really struck a chord with me and made me believe that we could do it better, provide a better service to our Clients, and have more fun with a better work life balance in the process.

I haven't looked back, its been a great few years and and I think our Office puppy would agree!

We are a friendly, efficient, and proactive Chartered Architectural Practice. You will always have one point of contact throughout the duration of your project and we are able to take a project from inception through to completion, helping clients jump the many hurdles required to get you there.

We believe that good design shouldn't have to cost you more. Having built a number of properties and having spent time on site ourselves we are aware of the pitfalls that builders face, and design out as many of the on site challenges as possible from day one. As a result we aim to deliver a service that provides excellent value to our clients, and projects that we can be proud of.
