This is an incredible place for both adults and kids. Our son started a few months before his 5th birthday as we wanted him to build his confidence as he was very shy. He wouldn't even leave my lap for the first 3 classes but everyone was so supportive and with perseverance and patience, he eventually started taking part. He's loved every single class; they're fun, engaging, varied, exciting and worthwhile. My husband and I started training shortly after and we find classes are brilliant for fitness and strength, not to mention the positive effect it has on your mental health. Every single coach and staff member cares about you, taking time to understand your reasons for training, your goals and what makes you unique.This is much, much more than any other martial arts school, this is about you, your journey and your family. I love this place! Never saw myself doing kickboxing or taekwondo or karate but I am converted. Our son started at their ministrike class last year and we have both since joined adult contenders. The classes are varied, always different and something new to learn. The instructors are friendly and encouraging, as well as appropriately challenging. The environment is lovely with a great vibe. I have never enjoyed exercise more! It may not be cheap but worth every penny and they offer discounts for additional family members. Definitely try their introductory trial - you'll be hooked! I have been training at Excel now for over two years. As a result of the fantastic coaching and support from fellow students I have lost weight, improved my fitness and stopped smoking. My confidence and self-esteem has also improved significantly.I have benefitted from training at Excel so much that I have also introduced my Wife to the Academy. We also have a 10 year old Son who has Autism and a severe development delay. I never expected to enjoy martial arts, but after taking my kid for 6 months the coaches talked me onto the mats, and I have never looked back, this place is my second home. The staff are amazing and the people that go are the friendliest people you could wish to meet. I had my doubts about taking my 4yr old son to martial arts. Well what a difference team Excel have made to him. I participated in the 6 week Krav mega bootcamp for women and I loved it! The instructors were fabulous (Joe and John rock! ) and the classes were challenging and fun. The instructors motivate you and make sure you are sweating AND smiling. In the past, I tried working out at gyms or to videos at home but always hated it so it never lasted. This bootcamp experience was the only time I actually wanted to go work out and felt great (and sore) after. I highly recommend the bootcamps, crossfit classes and Krav maga classes. I have watched my son grow to understand his inner soul. For many years he has struggled with many issues in his life , especially after sustaining an injury to his back at work. That was when I started to lose the son everyone knew and loved. But seeing my son slowly returning to us is a blessing, which I and his father thank Excel for. If not for them , he would not be who he is now.....the support and help from teachers and other students. He talks about his students and teachers with such awe and respect, it warms my heart. Last night I watched my son achieve his black, 8 weeks of preparation to achieving this goal....and 3 days of grading, he wears his black singlet with pride and honor. Excel gives an atmosphere of unity and family, for that I thank his teachers and students.....Excel Martial Arts is a place I would recommend to anyone who are trying to find themselves. I enjoy visiting Excel and watching my son train and teach.....also the students excelling to their goals. More...
