I booked in to get a Dermalogica face treatment as I wanted to try something new to improve my overall complexion and from the outset this treatment has been great! The staff at Elixir Beauty fully informed me about what was taking place and what I had to follow, as I hadn't undergone a treatment like this previously I was weary at first but the staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease about what I was going to do. The treatment course lasted 6 weeks and each session I had couldn't have gone any better,I was consistently reassured throughout and spoken through what was happening in depth. Throughout my whole childhood right into my early 20’s I had bitten my nails quite badly to the point that they constantly hurt and I was very conscious about them but in 2004 I got my dream job working in Field Sales.

This was a customer facing and customer touching role in which I would be shaking hands and presenting to customers with my hands on show all the time and it was this that made me realise I had to stop which I did but my hands and nails were still a mess and didn’t exactly portray the sort of image I wanted when talking to Company Directors.

Then I met Alice….. Alice was the girlfriend of someone I met through work and she after some reluctance talked me into having a manicure.

As a man, especially 12 years ago when I was much younger the thought of having a manicure didn’t really appeal for several reasons…1) the stigma attached to men having ‘beauty’ treatments, 2) the thought of the rugby lads finding out, haha!! 3) my own feelings of discomfort.

After overcoming these thoughts and feelings I went along and had what I can only describe as a thoroughly pleasant experience. I was still a little uncomfortable on arrival but that soon subsided as I was welcomed, offered a drink and seated. The treatment was explained in full before Alice started and I came out feeling confident about my hands for the first time ever!

That was over a decade ago and I have been visiting Elixir to see Alice regularly ever since, I have lost the feelings of discomfort and am now love having treatments, what I like to call ‘grooming’ rather than beauty and I really look forward to them. I think it’s really important to look after yourself in this way and Alice and her team not only have the knowledge to recommend the right products for you, they do it in a way that isn’t pushy or assuming.

I now love having a range of treatments that are not only relaxing and make you feel great but they have also helped with my skin by using the high end products that are used and for sale in Elixir.

Elixir has recently moved to much larger premises and what Alice, Gina and the Elixir Team have done is stunning. In the last premises you always felt very cozy and it was very personal and you sometimes wonder whether the feeling of comfort and tranquility will be lost in a bigger premises but the environment and atmosphere is immediately relaxing and the attitude and professionalism of Alice and her team makes you almost feel like you’re having treatments at home.



I can only speak highly of Elixir and couldn’t recommend them enough to anyone looking to have a wonderful experience. They are dedicated, professional and ‘fabulous’ to say the least but joking aside, I would call them experts in their field!

In the words of my Mum following the half-day of beauty I bought her for Christmas….

Treating myself to a facial which is so much more than what it says it is, it's a relaxation experience in capable hands that leaves you feeling pampered and spoilt, between the facial treatment you are treated to a relaxing hand neck and shoulder massage, adding an eyebrow tint and wax to the treatment completed the whole experience, I regularly visit Elixir for manicures and always find Alice, Heidi and Codie so welcoming and happy to make you feel amazing!
