The Drama School at Dramatic Arts Studio is dedicated to excellence in the skills of Speech and Drama. The acting classes are conducted by Kim Gilbert. Kim's in depth knowledge of the subject and examination curriculum, results in her students achieving incredible success rates! In addition, Kim's teaching methods lead to an an overall improvement in her students self-confidence, and enables them to develop general communication and conversation skills (which are so important in everyday life), as well as enhancing all aspects of literacy. Dramatic Arts Studio offers quality, individually based programmes and only employs experienced, CRB checked and well-qualified staff. We are not a franchise.At Dramatic Arts Studio we offer a range of drama classes leading to graded LAMDA examinations (the UK’s leading statutory speech and drama awarding organisation) in communication and performance subjects. Kim has been a LAMDA Examiner for 8 years. Tuition is available at all grades, for all ages and abilities from a range of various related disciplines e.g Acting, Voice, Verse & Prose, Public Speaking, Reading for Performance, Musical Theatre, Shakespeare & Audition techniques. Support is also available for A Level Theatre Studies and Drama School auditions. Annual entry in the British Federation of Festivals is encouraged in neighbouring Bristol, Bath and Wootton Bassett. What do you love most about your job?
I love everything about my work. I particularly enjoy watching my students increase in confidence and ability and am very proud of our excellent examination success rate. However, it is not just about exam results. I have helped many young people with speaking disabilities and have worked on accent reduction with many foreigners. Some of my students have been studying with me for 10 years now and I have seen them blossom into articulate and talented communicators. My job is extremely rewarding.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been teaching drama for over 35 yrs and have worked in many educational and theatrical establishments mainly in Bristol and London. I decided to build my own drama studio just over 10 yrs ago when I moved to Chippenham to accommodate my husband's job in London. We took several years to design and build this special place and have become a registered Lamda Examination Centre, where students can take their grades in familiar and comfortable surroundings.

Tuition is tailor made to the individual and students can choose from a wide range of study - Acting, Verse & Prose, Public Speaking, Musical Theatre. Many come to develop their vocal skills and build confidence in speaking whilst being introduced to a wide variety of literature and drama. The attaining of Lamda graded exams appeals to younger students and we have recently introduced the Lamda Shakespeare Award. Dramatic Arts Studio has been successful in achieving 10 drama scholarships in the last 2 years and have been nominated 5 times for the Bath Young Actor competition. Performance and communication skills are at the heart of this centre of excellence.
