Q&As

What I love most about my job is that I have the privilege to spend time with people who often don't realize how strong and incredible they really are. We all tell ourselves stories about who we think we are and what we believe we're capable of...stories that come from our experiences growing up. And even though we grow into adults, we often keep telling ourselves the same stories of our childhood , stories of helplessness, disappointment or failure.

One of my favorite moments with a client is when I see them become more aware of the stories they've been telling themselves and realise how these stories have kept them trapped and limited. From this point, a client has the opportunity to challenge and start creating new, more empowering stories, based on the present and not the past.

Deciding to go down the private route came from my experience working within the NHS; sadly, with continued reorganization and cuts in psychological services, I felt as though acquiring the appropriate help, at the appropriate time was becoming harder and harder for people. I think that the NHS is an amazing privilege that we can enjoy in this country - but with this great resource straining it still leaves people in need.

An additional dimension to this is that within the NHS, normally you're only eligible for therapy if you're experiencing significant difficulties. However, in my opinion, what the NHS isn't able to offer is a platform for self-development, so that the need for future specialized solution-focused therapy is significantly decreased. We live in a fast-moving world, that can sometimes feel confusing and painful - learning how to become more aware and resourceful can provide us the opportunity to navigate more skillfully.

I appreciate that taking the step to seek support can feel uncomfortable and that's perfectly understandable. What I can promise you is that I will do my very best to put you at ease, so that you're able to tell your story at your own pace. I'll be there every step of the way with you, inviting you at all times to let me know what you need.

My way of working is integrative, which means that because I'm trained in various different therapies, together we can pick and choose the tools that will best suit you personally. Therapy always happens in collaboration, it's not something that I do to you but something that we do together.

As well as working privately as a Psychologist, I also lecture in psychology at London Universities, to Undergraduates, MA students and trainee Doctors.

My fee is £100 per appointment. Making a commitment to therapy is making a commitment to yourself. If you feel ready to make this commitment then feel free to email me or give me a call to arrange a time for us to meet for an initial assessment consultation. This will be an opportunity for us to explore what's going on for you and discuss the possible ways forward together, all in strictest confidence.
