Booked a small Birthday party in December for Breakfast-Bubbles & Brunch. We were kindly offered a private room - The Gun Room, which was just the right size for approx 16. The team were helpful, professional, and couldn't do enough to help. The table setting, the linen, the staff & the food all exceeded our expectations! Had great help from the new events manager-Abi. Couldn't fault it at all. More...

For really special family meal, we sat in the "gun room" and had the A La Carte menu. The food was quite expensive, but excellent quality, so still good value. The service was lovely and polite and great for a leisurely Saturday lunch. 2 courses for about £20 per person. Excellent mains and really rich deserts. The main restaurant is being refurbished, so best to phone to book in advance. More...

An interesting hotel with individualy decorated rooms. We loved ours which was huge and had a four poster bed and a very secluded outside seating area.

Having read all the poor reviewservice we were very reluctant to stay at the hotel. However we found the hotel staff to be very polite and helpful. Our room was completely refurbished and spotlessly clean. The 3 course evening meal was delicious and of a very high standard. The breakfast the next day was also really good with plenty of choice. The full English was served to us instead of the usual buffet style you receive in most hotels. It was also piping hot. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there was very little pressure in the shower however the water was hot and plentiful so you could enjoy a soak in the bath More...

The staff were very helpful and attentive throughout our stay, even swapping our room when we reported trouble with locking the door of our room (6) although the room we moved to (3) had a challenging lock to say the least. So the hotel definitely needs money spending on it as it looks and feels very dated (not quite 17th century but pretty close). The food side was great with no complaints about the breakfast.
