How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
A property is suitable for loft conversion if the following requirements are met
1) Suitable height of the existing roof .2.2-2.4 m for traditional roof and 2.4-2.6m for trussed roof
2) Roof structure- the type of roof -purling , trussed or rafter roof
3) chimney - may need to be removed or supported
4) liveable space
One final thing to note is that your building may be subject to planning permission
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
1) erect scaffolding to provide safe access. Start any demolition work and buy material to start. install beams
2) build dormer
3) build roof and window dormer
4)finish external work, roof tiles and chinmey
5)erect ceiling, insulated walls and staircase.
6)fitting out of plumbing ,electrical work and painting and decorating.
7) snagging and handover
How long have you been in business?
I have twenty-five years experience in the building industry working along major contractors as a an operative to a project manager. I also work on the canary wharf and the Wembley stadium
