How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Hard to say as each property is different but I have yet to come across a garage that isn’t suitable.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Most garage conversion fall under permitted development — particularly if you are not altering the actual structure of the building. However, if you are converting a separate, stand-alone garage, as opposed to an integral one, then you may have to apply for a change of use.
You will need planning permission If you live in a listed building or a Conservation Area.
If you live in a relatively new build, check that there is no condition attached to the garage stating that it has to remain as parking — if this was the case, an application would need to be submitted to remove this condition.
Garage conversions fall into ‘change of use’ and so will require building regulations approval.
Building Regulations apply to:
moisture proofing
ventilation
insulation
fireproofing
escape routes
structural soundness.
You must notify your local council of the forthcoming project by submitting a building notice Once we start your garage conversion we will deal directly with building control on your behalf . As we complete each stage of the work, building control will come out and do a site inspection to make sure we are complying with building regulations on completeion of the work building control will issue you with a certificate of completion.

What inspired you to start your own business?
From a young age I wanted to own business. Many things inspired me to start my own business , but I think if I had to put it down to one thing I would have to say it was the birth of my eldest Son.
