My daughter had the misfortune of using Crown Preservation run by Mr Declan Fox. As part of planned litigation and an investigation for defective damp proofing by my law firm, we have found the following:
Crown Preservation is not registered with Companies House. They are not VAT registered. They are not PCA members. Declan claims to be a TrustMark member, he is not. He claims to be a FairTrades member, not true. He claims to be a member of Construction Guarantee Services (CGS), he is not. He claims his 30 year warranty is backed by Guarantee Protection Insurance Ltd, it is not. Declan's 30 year Guarantee is worthless. Declan has no academic or professional survey qualifications. He claims to be 'London's Leading Damp Company', but his office is a mailbox in Central London shared by hundreds of other companies. He claims to have worked with top brands, Waitrose, Network Rail, Windsor Castle etc. We contacted eight of them. Four replied. None have heard of Crown Preservation. Most of Declan's positive reviews appear to be fictitious. The first google review to appear for Declan over a year ago was a negative review calling him 'a snake oil salesman'. Immediately a dozen fake positive reviews appeared. You have been warned. We are currently advising the Met Police and local media about Crown Preservation and Declan Fox.

5 star service!! we was due to complete on the sale of our house when damp proofing specialists said we had damp in our property, we called Declan who came a few days later to tell us we had no damp problem what so ever . very professional .for Declan being a totally honest man he saved us £3500. I would definitely recommend Crown Preservation for damp or dry rot issues. I had various companies visit me due to a case of dry rot in my kitchen. Of all four who came, it was only Declan who had decent equipment, with a camera which could investigate the spores and fruiting bodies within my stud wall and under my floorboards and provide me with helpful advice. After an exposure survey, which some companies also did not offer, they gave me a detailed quote which they stuck to and explained the work that would need be done, taking me through each stage and offering a realistic time frame.When it came to the work, they removed all the affected floor area and plasterwork, treating the rooms, replacing the floor and doing a great re-plastering job. The workers were friendly in general and they managed to cope with my flat being on a busy main road without close parking too much fuss. No obstacle was too big. Would definitely use again. We had a serious damp-mould issue in our flat. We called 1 company in who suggested it was a leaking pipe. We paid a plumber to inspect and found no pipes at our expense. The other company then suggested cutting into the wall and using a camera to look for the source of moisture. At this point we became concerned that we were being taken for a ride. We looked for another opinion and found Crown Preservation. We described the problem over the phone and they confirmed it was likely a condensation problem. They sent a surveyor ( Declan) out who took thermal reading of the walls and measured the moisture in the atmosphere and confirmed it was condensation.They even told us at what temperature the condensation formed.I would definitely recommend Crown Preservation. They were knowable efficient and had had all the equipment for the survey (something the other company did not) and they suggested the correct course of action to take using our own builder. More...

We received three quotes for our damp proofing and water proofing and chose Crown for these reasons: they were recommended by neighbours; they are professional and knowledgeable and after an initial site visit to our 19th century house assessed exactly what was needed (another firm misdiagnosed the problem) getting back to us quickly with a sensible estimate. They also offer a 35 year guarantee which is unique. We have had several damp companies round and this is the only one that didn't try to rip us off, gave us proper advice and actually knew what they were talking about. It is so hard in London to find trusted companies who don't take you for a ride, especially when you have no idea about damp and what the best thing is to do. They have proper equipment no some cheap meter from screw fit (which is what everyone else turned up with). They also have great communication with you, always getting back to you promptly. I first contacted the company two years ago with an amazing quote. I never did get round to sorting my damp until i got in contact again few weeks ago, work was done Saturday 11/02/17.
Let me start off by saying that their work was amazing and would recommend to anyone wanting a proper maticulous job done. After two years they also froze my quote and charged the same amount. In addition staff worked a specific weekend at my request as it was an emergency. I rung the director to thank him personally.
