What makes a great website?
A great website is visually clean and balanced in design that reflects your brand identity, is consistent in tone, look and feel with your other marketing material and should convey a clear, simple message.
'Who you are'
'What you do'
'Why you are good at what you do'
It should be easy to navigate from page to page and should give your visitor a positive, memorable user experience (UX).
Don't be boring.
Keep it interesting with relevant, quality content and imagery and resist the temptation to flood the pages with too much information.
Use a strong call to action wherever possible with precise instructions for the user to get in touch or ask for information.
Keep the content fresh and up to date and make changes to make the site work harder for you and keep your visitors interested.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the name of your company and what do you do?
What do you need?
Do you have a budget?
What is the timescale for the project?
Describe your creative process.
STEP 1. UNDERSTANDING THE BRIEF
The communication brief is a fundamental tool, whether a written document (preferably) or verbal, succinctly conveying true and accurate information to your creative designer in order to get the best work possible. It ensures that both you (the client) and the designer understand exactly what is required, that the work is relevant, meets your objectives and saves time and money. I can help and supply a standard brief template which contains all the essential information we need to move forward.
STEP 2. CONCEPTS
Whatever the brief, logo design, advertising, brochure design etc. Time permitting, I will supply 3 initial rough concepts with a rationale that explains the thought process behind each execution. One concept goes through incorporating any feedback or amendments.
STEP 3. FINAL DESIGN/COPY
The chosen concept is developed in detail and submitted for approval.
STEP 4. PRODUCTION
Final artwork files prepared to meet deadlines and sign off.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
All of the above.
There is a short Design Briefing form available to download from the website.
What do you love most about your job?
I have a passion for the creative process and bringing ideas to life. I am fairly bright with reasonable common sense, a good, strategic, understanding of what clients need and how creativity can add value to the bottom line.
More importantly, I care...about doing good work and that its helped clients get where they want to be.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have worked for some big advertising agencies both as full time and freelance. My aim is to provide the same quality of service and creativity to individuals, start ups and businesses who don't necessarily have the resources to pay the big agency bills. Plus, I treat each clients business project as if it were my own and strive to produce the best possible solution that gets results.
