I was visiting our neighbours that had moved to Portsmouth from Falmouth in Cornwall. Travelling down from London, I could hear a groaning noise from the front wheel bearing. Not good.Once in Portsmouth I had just over 24 hours to have the vehicle examined and fixed if necessary.I found Clark's Auto Service very near by and dropped in to see them. I explained I was visiting and had a 5 hour journey home with my wife and two young children the next day.They managed to slot the vehicle in that day. The staff were very friendly and the workshop mechanic came into reception to speak to me. I explained exactly the problem and if he deemed unsafe and unlikely to get me home, to fix the vehicle.I came away from the garage thinking to myself, "That's an open cheque book."Clark's Auto Service phoned me later in the day. They had examined the vehicle. The problem was with the front off side wheel bearing. They had the vehicle up on ramps and had road tested it.To my surprise, they informed me it was safe to drive home to Falmouth. They were confident that it would manage the journey and I could get the bearing sorted at my friends garage once home.I was charged just half an hours labour!The Touran did indeed travel home safely and I felt very confident despite the quite loud groaning noise.I can't praise this garage enough. The reception staff were so friendly along with the workshop personnel. It felt like a family owned business and they really cared about us and the journey home. I would without hesitation recommend this garage to any motorist.Thank you for an outstanding friendly service which gave me such confidence in the journey home. A fantastic service from start to finish. My car had two issues which needed to be urgently repaired, within one phone call, I had a courtesy car (no charge! ) arranged and a convenient time booked for the repair. The customer service is exceptional, the team at Clarks Auto Service could not do enough for me. Work was undertaken in the specified time, best of all was the cost very reasonable considering I had several quotes all much more expensive. Highly recommended. More...

I went to have a knocking sound investigated from my diesel Peugeot 206 1.4.
The people at the garage were very friendly and polite and made me feel welcome and at ease.
The Mechanic quickly diagnosed the problem (being a former Peugeot Mechanic) and his office administrator (Also his wife) phone around for the best prices for parts to fix the issue. They gave me an excellent quote for the work to be done with the parts which I was happy with but I ended up paying less than the quote as I believe one or more of the parts for the job was found to be unnecessary. Most other garages would probably have still charged the higher price and just not said anything.
My car is now sounding as good as new there is no knocking sound anymore.
I cannot recommend this garage any higher.
It is hard to find a good, reliable, trustworthy garage these days and I have certainly found mine!
