Counselling

My boyfriend and I have worked with Cath every week for a number of months and found Cath very experienced in what she does, she worked hard to help teach new methods of communicating and listening to each other. She has provided us with the ‘tools’ to move forward from an extremely difficult and uncertain point of our relationship. I would recommend Cath very highly! More...

Q&As

I love it when the lightbulb comes on, when someone I'm working with has a new realisation about themselves and old patterns, behaviours and beliefs begin to move. So much of our distress comes from being stuck in old ways of thinking, feeling and doing. We rarely get seen and heard enough so we don't really learn to be with ourselves in a way which helps us to stay in tune with ourselves. We get out of touch. I love it when my clients really begin to make sense of all of that and start relating to themselves with the care and understanding that they need and deserve.

I've worked as a private therapist and coach since I first qualified over 20 years ago. I used to do it alongside my work as a manager in the voluntary sector where I developed and ran therapeutic services for young people and adults who were homeless. For the past 10 years I've chosen to focus on my therapy work because it gives me more space to simply listen.

I've dedicated my life to listening because from the offset it felt like it was absolutely what I was meant to be doing. I've never lost that feeling. Over the years I've evolved the skills and experience to help people really make a difference in their lives. My clients see results, often in a matter of hours. I've immersed myself in studying approaches which work. I've been in a commited relationship with listening for most of my adult life. I've followed it wherever it's led me in the world and have been richly rewarded by the differences that I've seen it make in my clients lives.

I have a diploma in counselling & life coaching, advanced diploma in psychotherapy, Master's in Somatics (physical based awareness and therapy) and spent two years in the US studying Process Work Psychology.

I work with a lot of heart, compassion and understanding of our predicaments and what helps us to make sense of what's happening and be able to move on.
