I have been to pretty much every gym in the area, and worked at about half of them. I always come back to brenda. It is my home gym. The first time I came here was when our swim team used to practice there when I was in elementary. I even slipped and chipped my front teeth in their old locker room. There have been a lot of improvements to the gym through the years. Recently both locations (Modesto, and Turlock) got new equipment! I am a little saddened that a lot of the employees who have been there for years are no longer there though :( anyways I highly recommend this gym, everyone there is so friendly! I can’t work out without making a new friend. I am a swimmer so I shower there like daily, if I could improve one thing there... it would be the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I used to be a lifeguard at this location about 7 or 8 years ago. I also work out there. I really enjoy this gym. It’s fun to walk around, they have so many different places to work out. Its almost like a maze upstairs. lol. If you’re someone who is new to working out, there are so many places you can go to kind of hide out and work out. I’m very knowledgeable at working out, I work out often but sometimes when life gets busy and I get out of shape and/or I want to be alone working out... decompress from being a working stay at home mom. I love hiding out upstairs to work out sometimes lol. The locker rooms are always really clean, they have a jacuzzi outside. Probably the biggest jacuzzi I’ve ever seen. I always tell people it’s almost as big as their pool lol. I have been a member on and off at Brenda since I was a child. It’s my go to home gym, I love it there. I usually work out at the Modesto location because they have a 25 meter pool, and I’m a swimmer. I live closer to Turlock so on days I don’t want to drive a couple towns over I do cardio and weights here. They recently updated a majority of their machines, and updated their entry way. I’ve been to a lot of gyms, and worked at many. Brenda is by far my favorite gym! Parking is limited... just means you get to burn more calories if you park on the street :) More...

The facility is very clean and spacious. The environment is courteous as everyone minds their own business, waits if you’re using the machine, and sanitizes the machines after use. A great place to workout in!

Locker rooms are moldy. Hot tub is cloudy and makes me itch. Hot every other day. Staff says they have to keep resetting the heater. With the annual facility improvement fee they take every February I can't understand why they don't fix things when they break. More...

This is the newer club in town. I like the open space (where the machines are) and that it's usually not too crowded. Staff is very friendly and courteous. The only drawbacks are that internet sometimes could get sketchy, and there are no classes at this location yet. More...

Great place to workout! Facility has a wide variety of machines along with classes for a selection of workout styles. Gym is clean and well maintained and staff is very friendly and helpful. The childcare is wonderful, the staff is great with the kiddos and very attentive. Makes it a great place to be able to work out with your mind at ease!! Loved visiting this gym. It's spacious, straight forward in their arrangement of equipment, and they don't hassle you too bad with sales. I was there for a day pass which is only $16 and totally worth it. I was there on a Sunday and had no problems accessing the areas and machines I needed. they have a cool circuit training section, and LOTS of TV's in front of the numerous stationary machines that you can plug into and either listen to the channel or listen to music! The mens's locker room was clean and sanitary. I had a great work out, and was able to shower and change and move on to my afternoon appointments. They offer massage services, tanning beds, and classes. Cool staff, and tons of parking! I highly recommend it. More...

I've been a member for a while. The facility is great (spa, sauna, tennis courts, weight room, Olympic weights, cardio room, yoga, bicycles, pool, etc.

For some reason, management doesn't do great on keeping up with maintenance and there is always some (little, but some) equipment that needs to be fixed. This is the only reason for 4 stars, not 5.
The roof leaks when it rains, and they just keep on kicking the can...they made us walk through the rain in the parking lot to lift weights instead of using the hallway...because the hallway carpet was saturated with water... little strange for paying members to deal with when the facility charges a yearly “maintenance fee”. That’s a small issue, but one that I wouldn’t expect from a health club in Turlock.
Great place for working out though. Family atmosphere with daycare services while you work out. Sauna, spa, heated pool... this place truly is worth every dime.
