Don't be put off by the limited variety as the food itself is excellent in flavour and value. The hospitality is warm and welcoming too. However my issue is the grubby interior, inside is in definite need of even a tidy up. More...

Friendly and attentive service within a lovely setting. A truly local pub which successfully manages to cater to regulars and visitors alike.
A cosy atmosphere within the main bar area, set amidst a 17th century building. Both dog friendly and welcoming to families, this was a great place to sit, chat and eat.
If you're hungry, the Feta and Bacon & Halloumi salads are recommended; both were both very tasty and came in impressive portions sizes! The seafood pasta with mussels was also very filling with a rich and tasty creamy sauce. Both variants of the Moules (starter and main) were excellent. Ale on tap included Timothy Taylor's, Old Peculiar and Hooky Gold (local). Lagers on draught were Kronenbourg 1664 and Foster's.
So good we went back on the return trip...
I forgot to ask about the ghost though. Damn.

The Brasenose is a breath of fresh air for those who dislike the corporate makeovers. It is a no-nonsense real pub with great, friendly staff. Oh, and do my ears deceive me or do i hear Hawkwind on their music system?! More...

The Braenose Pub is a lovely traditional pub, dogs are welcome and the staff are lovely. The food is delicious and prepared fresh with a wide choice. The accommodation really depends on your individual expectations, the 'house elf ' we met is lovely, and nothing we requested was too much trouble. She went out of her way to welcome us, and ensure our stay was pleasant. I didn't find the mattress very comfortable, but I think I only find my own bed comfy. Yes room a bit small with 3 adults sharing, but I am used to living alone and not used to sharing, so once again, my own problem. More...

Friendly and helpful staff, quirky layout, great food. I had one of best salads for a long long time with the bacon & haloumi. chef was creative with addition of olives, celery, beet shoots, etc when I asked to omit tomatoes & peppers. Fresh baked ciabatta topped it off. Good selection of beers too More...

Lovely pub with good food & brilliant staff. Good children's play area/beer garden outside & lovely features inside. Nice change from the usual chain-style pubs that are taking over!
