How long have you been interested in magic?
I've been doing magic parties for children since my own daughter was four; she is now nearly thirty! So although some of the magic tricks are the same, we've developed a few new ones for the older audience.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
A typical party for children might run between 3pm and 5 pm in the afternoon and follow this sort of pattern:
3:00 the party guests arrive and run around madly in their party clothes
3:10 you might play a couple of games
3:20 Mr Magic arrives before you pull all your hair out
3:30 Mr Magic gathers up the excited party guests and gets them to help him with his tricks, Meanwhile the grown-ups get tea ready
4:00 Time for Tea! The party guests eat the food that’s bad for them and leave the raw carrots
4:20 The Birthday Cake is brought in and we all sing Happy Birthday
4:30 Mr Magic does more tricks while the grown-ups clear up the mess
5:00 Party Bags for all the little darlings
Home time for Mr Magic; a cup of tea (or G&T!) for Mum
What do you love most about your job?
Hearing children's funny comments when a magic trick 'goes wrong'; and watching the delight on their faces when they help make a magic trick 'go right'.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Doing magic shows for my own kids, and being asked to do them for other people!
Why should our clients choose you?
The main aspect of my shows is that people get to join in and have fun.
Whether it's young children telling the story, painting the magic picture, or making the washing un-shrink, or adults 'helping' lock MrMagic up and getting drawn into the general silliness.
