Describe your creative process.
Firstly, we listen to what problem you are aiming to overcome and between us, we create a brief that describes what you want to achieve. A good brief and clear understanding of your needs, allows us to put an accurate quote together.
We then do our research, whether you just want a logo, packaging design or a full rebrand including an ad campaign, the process is still pretty much the same, we like to get a feel for your competitors and also what's appropriate design-wise for your market. This helps us draw up an internal mood board that leads to the inspiration for your designs.
Depending on what is agreed in the quote and what the budget is, we then create the first round of visuals and typically present them as PDFs. If the budget allows multiple design options, we then choose a favourite between us before refining the design.
Next is the artwork stage, where the rest of the project gets completed based on the agreed creative from the first design stage. We can also assist with getting in print quotes during this period.
Once we get written approval from yourselves that you have proofread everything and are OK for the design to go to print, we send off the Print Ready PDFs to your printer of choice.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Once the quote is agreed, we usually ask for 50% payment upfront for all new customers. Once this has cleared, we can then schedule in the work. Before starting any design work we usually require the dimensions in mm for whatever the artwork is, for example, if it's a multi-page brochure, is it A5 or A4, DL or square, if it's a banner, is it landscape or portrait and what size is it?
We also require spell checked and proofread text to be supplied along with any high resolution images. However we also have good links with local copywriters and photographers if required, or we are equally happy to source images for you from stock libraries if required.
What do you love most about your job?
We genuinely love helping smaller businesses punch above their weight, so once their design work is complete, they can stand out from their competitors. In a crowded marketplace, good branding can make all the difference.
What inspired you to start your own business?
While working for a very large digital media company in London, I was also doing bits of freelance and found working with SME's more rewarding than working for large corporations. It also affords a better work-life balance.
