Touted as the most haunted pub in England. Fitting as it is it located in the most haunted village in England. We saw zero ghosts or spooky things. .. but the pub itself is a charmer. The black horse is very welcoming even if like us you're looking for the spirits of the none alcoholic kind. The bar staff are very friendly a lovely lady told us a little about the history of the place and about the alleged ghosts that haunt it. First time at The Black Horse last night and no for sure it won't be the last. From the moment we stepped in we felt the warmest of welcomes. The pub has lots of history which we enjoyed hearing about from the landlady who spoke so passionately about it. There was 4 of us and we chose the pub as a venue to plan our Florida holiday. We did this over a 3 course meal in the restaurant. I can safely say that this was the best food, presented beautifully, served hot and you can tell it was all 'home cooked'. The portion sizes were the most generous we have seen. Not many meals beat my husband's huge appetite but the Black Horse Stack did! Traditional puddings which were to die for! I can't wait to come back and also try their sister pub The Swan at Little Chart. The pub has had a revamp since my last visit 3 years ago. It is certainly cleaner. Lighter and more spacious although I'm kind of glad I also experience the spookyness of the former darker and more cramped pub. The food was lovely. Couldn't fault it, good portions and delicious baguette lunch. There's plenty of parking, (daytime at least) and also a nice garden for sunny days More...
