If you're looking for a specialist massage therapist who is highly experienced and professional in every way, then I can highly recommend Erica as one of the best practitioners I have ever been to. She sorted my back problems and helped me with my fibromialga. She is also a nutritionist and gave me some excellent advice. Erica manages the massage clinic which is part of the ForeverSun Herbal Health Store which she also runs with her father. They make a great team and have everything you need. Q&As

What to expect in the nutrition interview:
Questions about the individual's lifestyle— and the quantity of meals consumed daily, who prepared the meals and where they are eaten. Information about food intolerances, allergies as well as alcohol and caffeine use will form part of our data for the nutritional assessment Details regarding exercise frequency, and your occupation can help to identify the need for any calorie adjustments.
Dental and oral health can also impact the assessment, as well as gastrointestinal health, for example, problems with constipation, frequent heartburn or gas, vomiting, or diarrhoea.
Evaluation
After the data is collected, the practitioner uses this to reference standards in order to assimilate the information into an assessment. This will provide an understanding of the individual's current nutritional status. The practitioner then uses the anthropometric data to assess the desirable or ideal weight, including skinfold measurements to determine body fat. Age, weight and height, are included in the Harris-Benedict equation which determines calorie and protein needs. A nutritional plan, which usually includes exercise and dietary guidance and recommendations, is then formulated and discussed with the individual.

Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
A study conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and published in The New York Times, found that volunteers who received a 45-minute Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol, as well as arginine vasopressin-a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. Volunteers also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system, and a boost in the immune cells that may help fight colds and the flu.

We offer a prescriptive massage therapy service which provides for a more tailored and personalised treatment. If you suffer from troublesome or chronic conditions requiring regular or ongoing therapeutic massage care or just needing some short term pain management, then we are pleased to recommend our Prescriptive Massage Treatment to you.

Sports massage technique is tailored to treating sporting injuries. The massage can be a vigorous and often non-relaxing experience which is meant to break down stress and tension in certain soft tissue points around the body. It is suitable for individuals who engage in any form of exercise, not just professional sports people.

Sports massage can be performed as both a preventative and treatment method for people who exercise. It can be used to help increase endurance and performance, as it boosts your blood flow, thereby minimising your chance for injury or to stimulate health back to the area of an injury if one should occur. Particularly beneficial as a pre event or post run treatment.

Indian Head Massage is a form of massage therapy created in India thousands of years ago. It is a deep style of massage derived from the Ayurvedic tradition that focuses on the head, shoulders and neck.
Through a variety of different techniques, the massage works to release any blocked negative energy in the body that may be manifesting itself as disease or injury in any one of the seven Chakras (energy centres) of the body. It does so by applying pressure to certain points on the neck, shoulders and head that correspond to each Chakra (which is a similar approach to that of reflexology). This unblocks the Chakras, and allows for a free flow of energy around the body, restoring the individual to optimum health and feelings of well-being.

Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. Each hot stone massage therapy session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body. Our professional massage therapists also incorporate a customised massage, with the use of hot stones which offers enhanced benefits.

Aromatherapy is a practice which uses essential oils and often through massage. A practitioner will safely prepare a unique blend of essentials and cold pressed oils, and apply to the skin through massage.

Essential Oils are herb and plant extracts. They are concentrated extracts which are used to treat a large range of disorders, deficiencies and strains in the mind, body and emotions. The essential oils are used to draw on the scent instinct to invoke an emotion which then produces a physiological reaction in the body that all contribute towards the individual well being.

The benefits of aromatherapy come from the scent of the oils which have the power to transform emotions and heal. Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment which is designed to significantly improve physical and psychological well-being.

This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (it's interesting to note that Hopi means peaceful people). Ear candles were used traditionally by Shamen healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.

Treatment is given by the practitioner placing their hands gently on your body in a pre-determined sequence of hand positions, spending several minutes holding each position.
These hand positions are nonintrusive and cover both the front and back of the body and are sometimes varied to give Reiki to areas where it is specifically needed. If you find any of the hand positions uncomfortable please tell the practitioner. The touch should be gentle, light and comfortable; there is no massage or manipulation. You may feel sensations such as heat, tingling, coolness or throbbing under the practitioners' hands or in other parts of your body, or you may feel very little. Many people experience a sense of well being and relaxation, or fall asleep; sometimes a treatment is energising. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki. The treatment will normally last for up to 1 hour.

Foot Reflexology massage can be a deeply relaxing and therapeutic modality for those suffering from plantar fasciitis, ankle injuries or even everyday work and play. Your massage therapist will apply traditional Swedish and sports massage techniques to the foot, calf and upper leg. This will not only help relieve toe pain, ankle pain, plantar fasciitis and common forms of arthritis but can also decrease stress and anxiety in the entire body. In addition, a variety of stretches can be beneficial. With pain and sensitivity in the foot, heel and calf areas, be sure to communicate your pain levels with your massage therapist during your treatment. It is also a good idea to rest after receiving the reflexology massage.
If you enjoy the therapeutic benefits of foot Reflexology massage, you should know that the benefits are compounded when utilised as a frequent therapy. The more you go, the healthier you feel.

During the nutrition interview, data collection will include questions about the individual's lifestyle—including the number of meals eaten daily, where they are eaten, and who prepared the meals. Information about allergies, food intolerances, and food avoidances, as well as caffeine and alcohol use, should be collected. Exercise frequency and occupation help to identify the need for increased calories. Asking about the economics of the individual or family, and about the use and type of kitchen equipment, can assist in the development of a plan of care. Dental and oral health also impact the nutritional assessment, as well as information about gastrointestinal health, such as problems with constipation, gas or diarrhea, vomiting, or frequent heartburn.

When it comes to losing weight, the rules are simple: Consume fewer calories than you burn on a daily basis. Subtract about 3,500 calories per week—a 500-calorie-per-day deficit—and you’ll lose 1 lbs. But for non-mathematical types who lead busy lives doing all that math and trying to figure out the calorie counts of different foods—whether eating on the run or planning meals—can be tough.

We have formulated a simple, 30-day meal plan for men and women trying to drop a size or four. Note: Most dieticians recommend that women trying to lose weight consume between 1,400 and 1,800 calories per day, while men should consume 2,000 to 2,300 calories. Of course, the number is largely based on factors such as age, activity level, height and build.

Detoxing can do more than make your eyes sparkle and your skin glow it can boost energy levels, improve digestion and help shift a few unwanted kilos too.
While it may look like a fad diet no grains, no alcohol, no milk, no sugar (and no fun) a detox is far from a quick fix for weight loss. The purpose of any detox plan is to take the load off the organs that detoxify the body the liver, kidneys and bowel while at the same time supporting and improving their performance. If you want to fast track your health, give your body a break, or just want to detox diet for a short time, follow this safe and do-able nine-day program. Everything you need to support you through this program starting with an initial consultation and assessment with our Nutritional Therapist.
