We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in February and it was perfect. Massive thank you to all the staff and events manager who met with us prior and was on hand all day to make sure we had everything. Very good hotel. Comfortable beds!! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy, yes if you look hard you will find signs of wear and tear but it is in quite acceptable levels.
The restaurant "Bartella's" is well worth a visit. The chef and his staff are obviously very competant and produce a range of dishes from "old favourites" to modern european style dishes using fresh ingredients.
The breakfast is good too and the choice of full cream, skimmed and semi skimmed milk is something which few hotels still offer.

Very nice place to stay food is really good and the staff very friendly too.
Good breakfast and good service too..
No negatives apart from the moaning old gits at dinner . ..some people should just stay at home and get fish and chips ..
The £110 for executive room abit much as there wasn't much difference from and standard double at £85.. and no kettle

We have just had our wedding at Ivy Hill hotel and it was simply perfect. We had plenty of support in the lead up to the day (Thank you Mary and Libby) and nothing was a problem to add to our special occasion. The staff on the day were friendly and could never do enough for you. There was plenty of free parking, the function rooms were laid out perfectly, the food was delicious, the whole facility clean, the late bar was welcomed to those wanting a night cap and the breakfast VERY welcome to sooth the hangovers. I visited the Ivy Hill Hotel for a small re-union of old school friends. We had booked the afternoon Festive Tea. Firstly, I would like to say what a warm welcome we had from the staff and we couldn't have been looked after any better or in any friendlier way. The tea itself was delicious - with a modern take on afternoon tea. A very tasty selection of open sandwiches and cheesestraws. This was followed by an interesting cake stand full of mulled wine jellies, mince pies, Christmas cake, truffles. other cakes and scones, jam and cream. All delicious. My wife and I were here for afternoon tea. Such thinks are made or marred by the little things like service and ambience.
Well, it was great.
We were greeted on arrival, always a good start, there's nothing worse than wandering around an empty hotel.
We were shown to a comfortable table in an intimate little lounge.
And we didn't have to wait.
Prosecco? Yes please!
Marvelous strong tea.
The sandwiches, scones and cakes were almost secondary, but they were delicious and plentiful.
Then, when we were leaving, we were asked by the manager if we had enjoyed our meal.
As I say, it's the little touches!
We have not been here before, but we will come again. More...

Had our Wedding ceremony and reception here on 4/3/2017(I know it’s been over year for this review but better late than never)and it was an amazing day, all thanks to Libby and Mary(Libby was there on the day itself and she did an amazing job). Everyone who attended still comment on what a great day it was and it was all thanks to the team at Ivy Hill. We recently attended a 30th Birthday and we was recognised by the staff which, we thought considering how many weddings and events you have in a year, was lovely. Food was yummy and plentiful. Had a birthday party arranged here (21st July) great communication from booking until event day, really friendly staff, food was super yummy and plentiful. Helped keep the surprise going for my husband and it was a fantastic night! Would definitely come back! Thanks for a great time
Only niggle was there was no hotel rooms available for the night, most people lived close by though, and those travelling were at least able to leave their cars overnight and collect later.

Lynne and myself had a 1 night stopover here after a pretty traumatic week.
I have to say that the staff, hospitality, food could not be faulted. I am travelling globally very frequently so congratulations you the management and team.
However would have given 5 stars. Sadly room 16 was clean but very dated and an executive room. It looked like the 80's. Deep dirt in the grouting. Want to come again for sure but please dont put me in this room or others in the same state of tiredness. More...

The booking and reception staff greeted us with a smile. We were delayed being given our room key.

I can't complain as we did receive a free upgrade on the room, which was pleasant.

The grounds are lovely.

A few negatives, but I did not feel worthy or reducing the 5* rating.

The bed was far too soft, where the ends collapse. The room showed signs that it had not been cleaned. Confetti from the previous tenants. Dust on the phone - fairly deep, so not just settled overnight.

All in all it was a pleasant stay, the breakfast was good and we would stay again if we were travelling to this area. More...

Went to a corporate evening at one of the function rooms, so I can't vouch for overnight stays, but the venue offers good spaces with friendly staff, decent catering and reasonable (for a hotel) bar prices. My main quibble was with identifying food - a combination of changing coloured lighting and lack of labels on the buffet left me with little clue what was suitable for vegetarians (or people with allergies). An excellent hotel, rooms OK, bathrooms dated, but the staff are exceptional, friendly, professional and really do care. The lounge bar is great and the restaurant served some exceptional food, think top end restaurant rather than a normal hotel eatery.
