How long have you been interested in magic?
I was nine when my dad said, Paul (because that's my name), what do you want to be when you grow up? And I said, Well, Dad (because that's his name), I want to be a magician when I grow up. And he said, Paul, you can't do both.
But I have grown up and I'm still a magician.
Yes, I started performing when I was a kid, and now I'm very proud of the magic that I have refined or invented. By experience I have learned how to entertain all kinds of people, from big-name celebrities in posh venues to local groups in village halls, brides and grooms and young party-goers.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
You can expect an intriguing start, followed by fun and powerful mysteries. I perform magic in guests' hands and involve people without ever embarrassing them. In contrast, I make them feel good about being part of a memorable experience. I do fascinating and original feats - much more than card tricks - and usually end with an exciting visual climax.
What do you love most about your job?
I love drawing people in to my magical world, allowing them to enjoy a perplexing and very interesting experience.
When people are nervous about magic, I love to see them totally relax into it and be comfortable with me and my act.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am a freelance author and broadcaster as well as a professional magician and with my wife Jana, an American magician, started a company - Art of the Impossible Ltd - which incorporates all our interests and passions! Together we lead magical walks around our home town - Baffling Blandford.
