Tony designed for us a two-storey extension on our semi-detached house. After a quick visit listening to what we wanted he went and away and created a floor-plan that used the available space in a better way than envisaged by my wife and I, ensuring all the space would work together and would be well used.
His detailed building drawings ensured there was no doubt from the builder or local authority in what was to be built and from start to finish Tony handled the whole process, posting the necessary documentation and answering any emails and calls promptly. Thanks to Tony my daughter has a larger bedroom, we have an en-suite and an altogether larger home without the hassle of moving. Tony provided an excellent service from planning through to the finish.

Very professional service. Anthony delivered what he said he would, and to the timelines that we agreed.

Q&As

I love meeting clients and discussing their proposals and trying to inspire them by maybe looking at things a different way. I also try to make clients think about their projects flexibly. You may want to build a downstairs playroom for your children, but when you come to sell your property , could a buyer look at that room and think that it would be an ideal guest room for an elderly relative or maybe a study? Flexible design can also work for the client as it allows them to readily adapt room spaces for their needs in the future.

Having worked in Architectural and Structural Engineering practices since the mid 1980s, I thought it would be nice to have the flexibility to work from home and be closer to the family. I'm pleased that I made that decision.

I'll always try to think about your project design and see if there are ways that I can add to your thoughts and provide alternate design ideas if they are feasible. In some cases this is not possible, as the client has thought about the project in great detail and my role then is to make their vision a reality. In all cases my purpose is to put your ideas into a set of drawings and documents that will be approved by the local authority and will act as a set of clear instructions for your builder to construct the project as you wish.

I prefer to view the property and discuss your thoughts on site as there are many factors that could affect the design, likelihood of planning approval, ease of construction, etc.
Many of these factors will not be readily apparent from a phone or video call.
Usually my initial visit will last less than an hour and is FREE of charge.

Services

I will meet you to establish your requirements and discuss your proposals. Seeing the property will allow me to comment on any factors that may affect the proposals.
I will prepare a fully comprehensive quotation based on the information gathered during our consultation. The quotation will detail my fees and associated costs such as local authority planning fees and building regulation fees.

Upon acceptance of my fees, I will measure the property and prepare existing floor plans and elevations. During the survey, I will also note existing structural details and features that may affect the design.

I will prepare proposed floor plans and elevations and these will be emailed to you for your comments. After discussion and any amendments the drawings and any required documentation will be finalised and made ready for submission for planning approval. I will submit the application online and deal with any queries raised by the local authority planning officer.

Technical and detail drawings will be prepared to satisfy the requirements of the building regulations. The drawings and any required documentation will be finalised and made ready for submission for building regulations approval. I will submit the application online and deal with any queries raised by the local authority building inspector. Further construction drawings and documentation will also be prepared to help builders to provide a detailed quotation for your project.

We can also carry out site inspections either on a regular schedule or as requested by yourselves to deal with any issues on site.
