I qualified as a counsellor in 2002, with an M A in counselling studies from Durham University, though I started with CRUSE bereavement care in 1998, counselling individuals, leading bereavement groups and working as part of the training team for new counsellors. Since that time I have worked with anger, trauma, relationship difficulties with individuals and couples, loss and bereavement, drug issues. My approach is broadly person centred, which in essence means I believe that underneath all the knots, issues and complications, we have the answers within ourselves, and the role of a good counsellor is to facilitate and enable a client to work through, and find their own way through the difficulties. A great deal of "the cure" is down to being able to talk about the issues in a safe environment, where you will be listened to, and not be judged for your thoughts, feelings and actions.

I have extensive experience using music, play and story making with children, young people, special needs groups and individuals , Currently I am working with CRUSE bereavement Care and am in private practice.I am still a working musician and perform regularly, in addition to teaching instrumental skills on guitar and violin.
