Alicia Savage took on our garden in Spring 2013, turning it from a boring expanse of gravel to a beautifully textured and layered garden with a distinct and natural sense of drama.

Introducing surprise by ‘hiding’ parts of the garden, with elements revealing themselves only as you travelled through it and her intuitive understanding of shape and planting has meant that the garden, while small, appears to be larger than it actually is.

Not only is it beautiful, but constantly changing. It is the most wonderful garden and we are so proud of it and extremely grateful for all that she did. Alicia is a hard-working and talented gardener as well as being a lovely person!

Q&As

The things I love most about being a garden designer are working outdoors and rising to the challenge of creating spaces that meet my clients desires and dreams. I have built up many lasting relationships with my clients, receiving yearly updates of how much they are still enjoying their gardens. This news makes my job worth every minute!

Alicia has spent 10 years working in the garden design and horticultural industry gaining a BA (Hons) in Garden Design at The University of Greenwich. Previous to that she received training at Trebah Gardens in Cornwall and worked at a local plant nursery while running a small garden maintenance business where she nurtured a love of plants and their needs.

Since 2012 she has spent 3 yrs working for award winning Marian Boswall Landscape Architects in Kent who specialise in Historic Garden Restoration and while there received training at the prestigious Great Dixter garden in Sussex.

Since returning to the South West in 2015 and establishing Alicia Savage Gardens she has also been working alongside Katherine Roper Landscape Design implementing schemes primarily in Bristol and Cornwall but working throughout the whole of the South West.

I outline a clear design process from the start which means you are aware of exactly what to expect from your garden design experience. I also have numerous contacts within the landscaping world so that when it comes to it you know your design will be built by a proven landscape service.
