Joey D's Guitar Lessons

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

I have been playing guitar for 16 years now, and have played in many different settings. I'm currently the lead guitar player for a gigging band in the Dallas, TX area. My past experience includes: musical theater, jazz bands, church services, and more! I run my lessons based off current skill level, goals, and musical interests of my students. There is no "one size fits all" idea for learning or teaching music. Our first lesson will be mostly just getting on the same page and making a game plan. If we start from square one with anatomy of the guitar and basic open chord shapes, or if we start with jazz improvisation techniques, you will feel comfortable yet challenged. I have extensive music theory knowledge, and will definitely use that to help my students understand concepts. It will be a little bit at a time as to not overwhelm, but inform and make applying these concepts much easier. I have been teaching music for 7 years in many different settings. I have taught over 50 private lesson students, and groups of up to 150 students at once! ONLINE RATES: Half hour $20 Hour $40 IN PERSON RATES: TBD

What do you love most about your job?

I love helping people. And I love music. So helping people learn to love music is the best way I can spend my time!

What inspired you to start your own business?

My work is always up to my standards. I set my schedule. I get to spend my time how I see fit!
When i feel motivated I get so much work done. Then I get to enjoy my time off, instead of worrying about what troubles tomorrow will bring.

Why should our clients choose you?

We've all had a teacher in our life that put too much pressure on us. Where you felt you couldn't ask questions or share your ideas... My goal is to be the exact opposite of that. There is expectation without pressure. I want you to enjoy your time learning music and I want you to be excited for next week's lesson, not stressed or nervous.
No question is a dumb question, and every idea has validity in a subject as personal as music.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

YES! I have become fairly proficient teaching virtually this past year. With a combination of sharing links and taking notes, my students can succeed.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am only offering virtual lessons right now as to be safe during the current pandemic.
