Joe is an INCREDIBLE teacher! I'll be the first to admit, I didn't know how my TOTAL beginner Bass player would do with online lessons. I shouldn't have worried though, because it was absolutely wonderful and my son was already playing a bit of a song after the very first lesson. Joe lets the kids choose songs that are exciting and interesting for them, which is so motivating. He sneaks music theory in there so organically! A few months after my son started lessons with great progress, my daughter started on acoustic guitar. They both play together now and practice together- sometimes do lessons together and have so much fun with Joe. They've made outstanding progress. What I love most about teaching is helping students simplify, simplify, simplify. I love the quote Get the fundamentals down, and the level of everything you do will rise. This is the approach that I take with teaching, if someone can get the fundamentals down one step at a time, then everything they try to do will be easier and students can have more and more A-Ha moments! Watching students take one step at a time towards mastery and ownership of music brings me immense joy and is why I teach.
I first started teaching when I was in high school to a couple of neighborhood kids. Since then I have been constantly teaching in some capacity and realized that it was something I absolutely loved doing!
