Called Steve because our computer had stopped backing up and the cloud drive had disappeared from our network.  Steve was able fix everything and even a few thing that cropped up during the repair.  We had some questions after Steve left and he was very promp and helpful by e-mail.  Would highly recommend Steve to anyone. WHY is it "such a breath of fresh air" to find someone who does exactly what is promised, quickly and charges a reasonable price? Steve resolved my issues with my Mac Mini in a few hours, returned it to me at home and re-connected it to be sure it was completely "healthy" again. Called up Steve when I had an issue. Very helpful explained what it could be as well as an estimate for price and time. Very accurate in both would recommend anyone looking to fix their computer issue to contact him and get his help. The location is an apartment as well next to the electronic store so call him if you have trouble finding it. Every critical life lesson I have learned has been spoon-fed to me through the wonder of the Hollywood screen. Want to win the big game? You better find yourself a ragtag bunch of underdogs. Want to get the girl? Creepy stalker moves like showing up uninvited and making huge, awkward professions of infatuation work every time. Need a good computer super genius? They better be a lone wolf that works their magic in a solitary lab you will never see. A real guru doesn't show you the goods. Sorry, but that's just science. Your digital Sherpa also better not have a corporate clock to punch. Yoda didn't have a polo shirt with a multi-national insignia on it for good reason; he wasn't "The Man's" lap dog.

Now, initially I was dubious. From the aforementioned movietime wisdom, I know that any great computer wiz is also a hygienically-challenged, misanthropic recluse who can't get through a conversation without condescension. Steve runs wholly counter to that. He was very nice while taking the time needed to explain (and, if I'm honest, re-explain) all the answers to our questions. He also gave us extremely reasonable rates despite the fact that he obviously knew we were in a serious bind.

After an intense 24 hours and, I assume, an 80's style movie hero montage, we had our laptop back and good as new. He didn't treat our bank account like Sasha Grey in a locker room. He didn't talk to me like I have the IQ of a not particularly bright goat (You know the goat I'm talking about. Always eating clothes or getting its head stuck in the fence. I hate that goat). He didn't even leave Cheetos crumbs in the nooks and crannies of my keyboard. He just fixed everything quickly for a good price while being a really nice guy.

Forget the people on the "Squad". Steve is your guy.

I had a failed hard drive and needed to recover files. I had several quotes from other techs, but Steve was the only one who thought outside the box and gave me a simple and affordable option of only trying to retrieve my data before more involved/expensive methods for my 3 year old laptop.  He responded quicly, was straight foward, and easy to work with. My Dell laptop crashed after only 1 year of having it , 10 days over the 1 year warranty from one of the big chain electronic stores where I bought it , their answer sorry its over warranty nothing we can do ! , but they want to push more sales and warranties on you and your left with a laptop that's only 1 year old that's useless ! what the heck. I go on trusted Yelp and look for computer repairs in the Torrance area where I reside, that's when I come up with Steve the owner of first tech and explain what had happened , I drop it off to Steve and he explains about the process & also breaks down in every day words about the basics off a hard drive and how they can fail and the next day he calls and lets me know he had looked and confirmed hard drive was shot !, he educated me on solid state laptops versus hard drive ones and in my line of business I move around a lot and my laptop comes with me hence why 3 laptops all hard drives have collapsed in the period off 5 years !  so now being well informed by Steve I will look around for a solid state laptop and will not have all those issues when travelling around , he even told me to look around on black Friday and I could pick up a sale rather than repair a laptop that would give me the same issues down the line from moving it around a lot ! all in all a great tech who is after the customers interest not just making the sale and not caring what happens unlike many others and large companies. you wont go wrong with Steve  he is from what I observed trust worthy , affordable, professional , and most of all Honest guy. I started having a problem with my desktop when attempting to open Outlook.  The system error message said that I had a corrupted file.  I had used You First Tech before for my dad's computer as well as for a previous employer.  I already knew Steve was great but had been neglectful in writing an earlier review.He came out on the promised day and time.  Took a look at my computer and fixed it in less than an hour.  He even gave me helpful advice on purchasing a new computer and backing up my current system while the repair program was running.  Definitely gave me ideas to help make my search process much easier.Steve is very personable, detail-oriented, pleasant and a great listener.  The price was also fair. Called Steve and dropped off my desktop tower today, Saturday 5pm, some kind of internet connectivity issue.  He called me back 2 hours later that it was fixed and ready for pick up!  He even came out of his shop, met me at the car and picked up the tower and then carried it back out to me upon pick up.  What convenience!  The best service and just the right price.  I asked him for advice and guidance on computers...he gave it to me on the spot.  It's so impressive.  Gave me great advice in layman's language.  He gave me the price quotes up front and asked questions based on what I was describing to him.  He's an honest person who knows his stuff and if you're not using him...you're wasting money and losing out!  Thanks Steve! I was having serious issues with my internet and wifi. I called Steve and he was able to understand my issues.  Needed someone to come by my house asap and trouble shoot. Steve was available to come the next day. He showed up on time as promised and called me 30 minutes before to let me know he was on his way. Steve asked me to show him my equipment and what passwords I wanted and how I wanted my network set up.  After an hour of trouble shooting Steve had the network and my wifi up and running.  We did a little trouble shooting together to get the wifi signal strength really strong on the other side of my house. These guys have always been able to fix anything I needed to have fixed, and their advice has consistently proved true. My only complaint is that they don't offer pickup and delivery, which would make a HUGE difference for busy professionals who otherwise have to take time off work just to bring the computer in.

Love Steve's work. He's not expensive at all (reading the one negative review), totally cost effective if you drop off to his place. I'm in Michigan now and planning on a trip to LA soon, and I still contacted Steve about my PC! I trust him that much. I had my laptop destroyed here in MI by someone and I regretted not waiting to see Steve. He's worked on my laptops many times and I'm always happy. I totally trust him with fixing my pc's. After checking out all the 5-star Yelp reviews, I decided to see if Steve could resuscitate my dead p.c. so that I could deactivate & uninstall some graphics programs and salvage the last 6-months' worth of data files. No dice; he was unable to access the hard drive. He advised just replacing the hard drive rather than buying a new p.c. with Windows 10 since he feels it will take a while for MS to work out all the bugs in the new version. He installed a new hard drive and answered all questions very clearly and gave good advice. His prices are reasonable and he has flexible hours -- including Saturdays. I highly recommend him. Steve was AWESOME!  I took my computer to another repair shop in Torrance and they told my all my files were lost after receiving a error of "hard drvie failure".  Upon receiving my computer back I did a search and was able to see files that were still on the harddrive.  I called Steve and schedule a time for him to come by.  Steve was able to find all my files and transfer them to a backup drive.  THANK YOU STEVE!!!  Never take for granted what one company tells you. My computer wouldn't boot, just beeped. A little research indicated it was a bad video card. I did a little troubleshooting, but didn't want to spend any more time on it. Even though I have CS&E degree, I don't have much patience to mess with hardware anymore. I contacted Steve and dropped off the computer. He got back to me promptly with a very reasonable quote and I authorized the work. Once the card came in, he installed and tested it. Steve is very professional and he made it very easy. I must admit I am ambivalent about writing this review. Not for any reasons that have to do with Steve, but simply out of greedy self-interest. You see, if it gets sufficiently publicized how outstanding Steve's knowledge and service are, he will probably get busier and more expensive. I have used Yelp heavily for the last several years and only rarely have been pushed out of my inherent laziness to write reviews, but (damn it!), it's the right thing to do. I've been around the block (I learned BASIC using punch cards, if that paints a picture), and have used tech people for a long time. No one has remotely approached Steve's knowledge, efficiency, professionalism, dependability and approachability. He's also (ouch!) under-priced, and even cheaper if you can drop the problem off at his place. I have never been able to faze him and if he can't fix it, it's a hardware issue, end of story. Plus he does hardware masterfully, and also just happens to be a very likable guy. Call him (while he is still affordable and available)! More...

Read on...ESPECIALLY FOR SENIORS:Steve is sharp, knowledgeable and NOT arrogant or impatient; he does NOT take over the computer and do things while leaving you in the dark!  He explains what he's doing clearly and in "lay" terms. He is patient -- he doesn't sigh in exasperation with my "Huh?" questions!  He goes out of his way to be helpful. He's fair and reasonable in his pricing. He is on time and I live a long way away. If traffic delays are encountered, he will call. Wifi in the house went down and we set an appointment for the Geek Squad to come out for $200.  The Geek Squad then pushed our appointment another week, so we sought other help.  Glad we did! I found "You First Tech" on Yelp and we left a message for Steve.  He called back in 5 minutes, came out that day at his $70 an hour rate.  It turned out our Aiport Express Base Station needed to be completely re-setup, so he ended up fixing the Wifi in the first hour.  We ended up keeping him for 3 hours total and having him fix every little issue we had on the computer, printer, etc.  Each time we were about to go into another hour, he let us know and made sure it was ok.  He was extremely nice, very user friendly, and even left us a document on the computer on how to fix the wifi in case anything like this happened again.  Overall a great experience, much cheaper and easier to reach than the Geed Squad.  Nothing felt better than canceling that appointment and telling them to hit road.  We are using "You First Tech" from now on and recommending them to all other neighbors.
