What better Christmas present than a Sushi 101 class?! We learned a delicious twist on edamame, what goes into miso soup, and how to cook sushi rice (not as straightforward as you think), then actually made our own maki and uramaki! Translation: Hand rolls with nori (seaweed) on the outside and inside-out rolls with rice on the outside. They also prepared tempura vegetables and gave us the secret to achieving that delicious light breading! Notes on the experience? For the sushi lover in your life, this is a MUST DO! I can't believe how lucky we are to have this talented team of culinary artists right here in Lexington! A sushi fanatic I am not, therefore I was (one of) the high-maintenance one(s) for whom they so kindly seared the tuna and salmon, but for that reason I would absolutely recommend it to ANYONE who enjoys sushi, even in a limited capacity! You get to keep your sushi paddle, mat, and chopsticks. They have beer and wine available for purchase, but you can also BYOB. In addition to the kitchen and seating areas there is a little retail section where you can shop, and they offer a wide variety of public classes, private classes, catering, events, and workshops year round. Loved my first cooking class! Such a warm and welcoming experience. The students in the class were an eclectic group consisting of couples, singles, and a mom and daughter duo and the conversation over our collectively prepared meal was lively and fun. The class size was perfect for learning all of the tips, tricks, and techniques our chef so deftly demonstrated. I highly recommend trying out one of the many classes available. We came to my niece’s 10th birthday party at Wild Thyme! They were so professional, patient and interacted with the kids so well! They showed the kids how to make homemade pasta and Alfredo sauce. I surprised my husband with the "Night in New England" class. We are big cooks at home, and have been dying to try Wild Thyme. We were thrilled with the set-up and explanation of the fish we were about to prepare. I was expecting more of a step-by-step class where we did every step, but it was more social, moving around and talking with other attendees. We drank wine and made new friends while we took part in different parts of the prep work, followed by a delicious meal. It was such a fun experience and we've been talking about it to everyone we know. Our family is planning on coming to visit from NC this summer to take a class with us! We can't wait to go back! Such an awesome birthday party and the host kept all of the children engaged while making the birthday girl feel special. I booked the "Everything is Better with Bourbon" class as my boyfriend's (a true bourbon lover) Valentine's Day gift. We had never done anything like this and weren't sure what to expect. My boyfriend and I had a great time at the "Classic Steakhouse" class--we learned a lot of helpful tips and tricks and the food was delicious. We were however a bit disappointed that we were mislead about where the steaks had been sourced. I called two weeks before I made my booking to ask where the meat for this particular class would be sourced. My boyfriend has specific food morals for meat that he follows, where he will only consume locally sourced and sustainably raised 100% grass fed cows. I was told over the phone that the meat would be coming from Pike Valley Farm, we were thrilled! However, once we got to the class Chef Allison stated that the meat came from Critchfield's. Which was fine, I suppose. I just would recommend making the location from where the food is being sourced a bit clearer :) More...

We had our daughters 7th birthday at Wild Thyme today. She chose a spa themed party with fruit pizzas, fruit smoothies, cupcakes along with facials and hand scrubs. By far one of the best birthday parties we have ever thrown or attended (and I have thrown many over the top parties). It was stress free for the parents and the kids were entertained the entire time and did not want to leave. The decorations were perfect, food tasted great and the kids loved making it. Maddie (I think was her name) was very engaging and actually taught the kids things during their lessons while having tons of fun. She made our daughter feel special along with all the other girls. We drove 2 hours to have this experience (as did our guest) and we all agreed it was totally worth it!! Thank you Wild Thyme for the experience. We plan to come back this summer for some lessons!! My mother was gifted a cooking class at Wild Thyme to be shared with her daughters and my aunt. What a fantastic experience! ! Allison was incredibly nice and so knowledgeable in cuisine! We had the best time doing the Great Appetizer challenge today! Came out for a team building event with the entire group and it was so much fun!
We had suggested this event multiple times and each time, the group chose to do something else. They were resistant to try this, thinking it couldn't be that fun, just a bunch of cooking. They were all pleasantly surprised at how awesome this was and how much fun we all had! We brought our own adult beverages and challenged each other to get creative. Everyone said this was the best outing we've ever had!
