What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The secret to taking a great photograph is what we call the CLS—composition, light, and storytelling. The balancing of all elements within your image, accompanied by proper lighting, then placing your subjects within the picture to tell their story. This is what makes a great photograph!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We have a questionnaire we email out to all of our clients. This questionnaire helps us create the perfect session based on our clients needs. If it’s for a wedding, we email out the questionnaire prior to our wedding consult. This helps us gather all information beforehand, so that we can help our clients understand the coverage they will need for their big day!
Questions are always based on the type of session or event that will be taking place.
For instance, we need to know the client’s due date if it will be a maternity or newborn session.
For weddings, we need to know wedding dates and venue locations, and where the couple will be getting ready so we can cover the before ceremony pictures.
For family sessions, how many children will be in the session, if any, and what are their ages. By knowing how many children will be in the session and their ages, this will help us to know how much time we will need to spend with each family. Children are unpredictable so we always try to be flexible. We want the children to be having fun, because let’s face it, when they are having fun, mom and dad are more relaxed and it makes for a stress-free session. Our photographer has even been known to play hide and seek with the kids, all while capturing them peeking around the corner of a tree. Those images make great candid portraits, and our clients love them!
What do you love most about your job?
Capturing our client’s story in a realistic way. Our client’s will be able to look back at their portraits years from now and get that same feeling of joy they had when the portraits were first taken.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We are a husband and wife team. We both had the experience of photography, designing, and business management between the two of us, so we couldn’t understand why we didn’t start our business sooner. Cody is the photographer and LaTisha is the session designer and portrait editor. Together we create images and products from start to finish that our clients will love. Plus, we want to give our clients a unique experience, not just another cookie cutter department store portrait session. We want our clients to fall in love with their portraits, and be happy seeing them on their walls every single day. This gives us joy, and it’s what fuels our passion for our love of photography.
Why should our clients choose you?
Our clients should choose us if they want a different but fun experience than the normal cookie cutter department store portrait session. We bring the photography to our clients. Our sessions are either done outdoors at the client’s preferred location or we recommend some of our favorites, or we do the sessions indoors at our client’s home. We have the backdrops, professional but portable lighting equipment, and we setup right inside our client’s room.
We are a professional team that has hours of education behind us that will allow us to capture the perfect portraits for our clients. We also give a 100% guarantee on our portrait sessions, meaning if they are not completely satisfied we will given them a reshoot until they absolutely love their images!
