I found Volare in a Google search about a year ago.  I have been interested in trying both aerial yoga and pole dancing for quite a while.  Talked with a friend about trying and then it was time for her birthday so...two became one. Ha.I researched three other studios in San Diego but Volare looked classier and did not exclude men from their studio.  I could understand if it was a class that maybe some women would not want strange man there to leer; however, I was booking a private party and Volare is the only studio that I found that was fully open.I called and left a message and received a return call in less than an hour from Maddox.  She explained all of the details for booking a private event and took all of my information and I paid a 50% deposit for the total number in the party.  She informed me that she would be sending over a few emails one being a receipt for the deposit once we were off the phone.  I was super pumped and couldn't wait for 28 December to come around.  I received all three emails including a reminder email about 3 days before.I found a great song for our party theme and emailed Maddox with a link to the song on Spotify.  (I totally forgot that I'd done that but the song was playing when I walked up to the studio preceded by the birthday girl.)The day before our reservation I received a call from Volare, Maddox, confirming the number of our party and to pay the remaining balance for the event. It was easy to find the venue and parking wasn't too bad either considering it is PB/Bird Rock on a Saturday afternoon. The requested song was pumping out as the birthday girl walked up to the studio and spotted family and friends she didn't know were attending the pole dancing class.  It was great!Maddox greeted us immediately and wished our honouree a happy birthday.  She gave us time to chat and potty and take some initial pictures.  The party I booked began and ended with Aerial Yoga so we walked through the studio to the hanging silks and she introduced us newbies to some beginner aerial yoga positions.  She was considerate of everyone with vertigo/motion sickness and the injury riddled.  I cannot remember the name of any of the poses but they were so cool and felt so good when I came out of the pose.  Felt elongated and like I was breathing better.  We did this for about a 1/2 hour and then moved to the front area: the poles.  I was excited but intimidated a bit by what we were about to do but it turned out to be far easier than I expected.  Maddox was a thorough and patient teacher and walked through each move multiple times for us.  By the end of the pole time, we had a choreagraphed routine.  We finished up back in the aerial silks for a cool down in a cocoon position.  Maddox woke us all from our "nap" and had us to slowly return to the moment.  Once we were disengaged from the silk we grabbed water and fruit that was part of our party package.  Thanked her repeatedly and took more photos before heading out.  It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon and the birthday girl had the best damn time.  We've already come up with a date to go back to Volare for classes!  Thank you so much for a wonderful event Maddox & Volare!!! I love Volare. I am so glad to have this studio right in my back yard. I've been taking pole, silks and flexibility classes here for the last 9 months and I haven't bothered to give it a review, but I had such an awesome lesson with Tracy tonight the first thing I wanted to do after was come here and shout it to the world: I love Volare! The instructors are so talented and great at explaining how to execute moves properly, safely and gracefully. The studio has a warm, welcoming feel and is visually beautiful, and the students and instructors are friendly, supportive and encouraging. I always get a good workout and leave feeling like I've done something wonderful for my body and my mind. And it's fun to see progress - climbing a little higher, stretching a little further, spinning a little prettier. The owner, Maddox, is a super star. She was my first instructor and I still love taking classes with her. How she stays so chill being a mom and business owner and aerial badass I don't know, but her energy helps me put the day behind me and focus on being here now and I'm so thankful for her and for the studio. I can't recommend it highly enough. More...

Volare is so much fun!! We booked a 1.5 hour party this past weekend for my best friend's bachelorette party and would do it again in a heart beat! At first, I was worried that 1.5 hours might be a little too long, but at the end, it almost felt too short because we were having so much fun! They had balloons for decoration, along with fruit, champagne, cupcakes and waters for us. We started off with an aerial yoga warm up and then moved onto learning a pole dancing routine. It was definitely intimidating when she first showed us the routine, but she made it SO easy and we were all shocked that we were able to do the whole thing by the end. Maddox was our party host, and I could not say enough nice things about her. She was so helpful throughout the entire process, from answering questions, booking, checking in before the party, through to the end. I had a great experience as a first time guest yesterday! I took two classes in a row and the instructors were both fantastic! ! Their names are escaping me right now but the stretch instructor was super sweet and we had a good conversation while we were stretching which helped me distract from the uncomfortableness of stretching which we talked about too, so I thought that was very sweet. Then I went on to my first spin pole class and had a total blast! I def have bruises on the insides of my legs but at the same time I can't wait to go back!! The instructor for this class was super sweet, encouraging and got excited for me when I was able to actually do something kinda right-ish so I appreciate her patience, encouragement and positive energy! :) Thank you for re-ignighting my dance fire! Really nice studio. Love the instructors here. Prices are higher than other studios. Took a couple of classes here to try out this studio and it was a very nice experience. They have a great selection of classes and different levels. I enjoyed all of the classes but my favorite is Russian exotic with Haley. Such a good workout and Haley does a great job breaking the moves down. Definitely not easy but I love the challenge and she makes it look so graceful. The studio is clean and so are the bathrooms. I came here for the first time in January on a whim, and was immediately hooked. The studio is amazing, with tall poles, silks, and a classy ambiance. The best part, though, is the community. Maddox and the other instructors really care about helping everyone get into great shape while still having a ton of fun. I've been coming every Friday to the intro to pole class (and sometimes staying for the pole conditioning class afterward), and I love Maddox (who teaches the class) and the regulars who also come on Fridays. Shout out to Maddox, who is a business owner, mother, dancer, and artist extraordinaire (v impressive). She is so engaged with her students and she makes even the basics fun to learn. Growing up my parents MADE me do sports. I was a fat boy... and they weren't having it! From 6yrs -18yrs almost everyday I would be in some sort of activity. Karate, football, lacrosse, basketball, weight training, etc. I didn't know how much I needed SOMETHING in my life to make me feel alive. As high school wrapped up... so did the sports and exercise. I thought I was relieved and free!!!! I was sadly mistaken. My body needed time to recover from the stress I endured from constant collisions. Yet, my mental and physical lacked this one thing! I found it at Volare. I had explored with yoga for years and did my own ballet and barre conditioning homework (felt better for the joints). Studied on my own, practiced, practiced, practiced and it felt pointless! There was no variety, no fun, no excitement! I almost threw in the towel. Fortunately, I popped my head into this building that is tucked away so nicely in PB... since that day I called it home. One of the best kept secrets in SD!!! It was very intimidating walking into a house in the sky. EVERYBODY WAS FREAKING FLYING!! Everything was so beautiful. Truthfully I looked for flaws because it seemed too perfect! But the proof is in the details. The instructors made grasping the concepts SIMPLE! EASY to follow. And if you didn't catch it the first time. They will do it again. And again. And again. Until it comes through clear. The level of patience they have is not easy to come by. I've witnessed them working with people who haven't worked out (ever) to gym rats. We all get treated the same. Having people stand by you, believing in you, and spotting you on a trick you never thought you'd land... is the best feeling in the world! Or giving them the high-5 at the end...Indescribable!I know and believe everyone takes their work to heart... but the passion from this studio is unbearable. Last week, I had presigned up for a class...drove to class... and my instructor was not feeling it! She looked like death! I could feel it! She had made every attempt to contact us before class to tell us "Shes feeling ill" but it didn't get through. When she saw our faces she told us in person she was not doing too well. She looked us up/down and said "But, I will stick it out for you guys".You don't get that kind of service everywhere you go! They really care about you here. If you want to take it to the next level... they will challenge you. They will only show you the ladder. You have to climb it! Trust me the climb will be fun. Intense! Still fun! I don't ever want to go looking for a studio that replicates this. I won't find it. I'm happy Volare put "that thing" back in my life! You already know where I'm gonna be Friday nights. Yes, training! Thank you so much ladies for your hardwork and determination!!-Tyler Barr More...

**Protip: The 2 hour parking in front of the studio goes to unlimited after like 6 and there's more parking on the side by the fishery and at the very end of the alley by the residential area**Protip #2: if it's your first class, the desk to do waivers and stuff is at the back of the studio behind the poles. I was a little confused my first time going but someone is always there to help :)**Protip #3: if you haven't already, you need to take a class here!!!!!! And bring ya bae!My boyfriend and I fell in love with this studio from our very first class. The students who go here, male and female, are all so so friendly and create such a fun class environment. Maddox (the owner) has put a lot of love into this place. From the painted V on the entrance to all the glitter on the walls (and ceilings!) you can just tell that she has really made the space her own for the people who study Aerial Arts there. She learns names quickly and always has fun ways to remember different moves. We will definitely miss feeling like Beyonce during hand wraps. The instructors are all really good and super nice. I wish we got to take more classes with Haley and Tina but the time never worked out in our favor. Volare does a lot to accommodate their students schedule wise, my work schedule seemed to just change with it unfortunately :P They change the schedule every 3 months and the next change is the new year so if you have questions about it get in touch with Maddox! Taking the later classes, we mostly took class with Lisa, Nikki, Nicole, Maddox, and Haley. We loved having them all but Lisa is a studio favorite (for good reason) and her classes fill up fast so definitely sign up early! She always has fun moves to teach and will always let you know about safety risks and accommodates for sensitive joints and injuries. She also loves to help take pictures which is sweet and honestly I wish I took her advice to take more pictures to help track progress. Nikki is great at silks and I really like her and Nicole's way of explaining things; for some reason, it just clicks. Nikki and Nicole are also the best at splitting the class up by skill level while making sure everyone is safe so if you are someone in between levels and unsure where to start, definitely take a class with them. Haley is known for her sexier classes but damn she's hella strong. What's nice about the exotic classes she teaches is yes there is sexy, but she breaks it down so you can learn that there is an art to being sexy, there are things that add up to being sexy. Body awareness is sexy and that's what I learned a lot of in that class. If that's what you want, try it out! And bring heels! They're not necessary but they're fun! I do believe the studio will sell them soon. Just overall, you can really tell that everyone here wants you to succeed and that the teachers here do do their best to have a plan for class. Nikki always has her notebook with things she wants to teach and Haley is always practicing during her down times. Maddox has these great skill level sheets that you put stickers (STICKERS!!!!) on to keep track of what you learned which is helpful to see when you are ready to move forward level wise. Also, if you have something you want to learn, say it.  Some students bring in insta videos and the instructors will walk you through it. If you're hesitant about trying Volare, don't be. It's really fun and a great workout. In 8 months I've gotten pretty toned just from this. You don't have to be strong to start aerial, you can learn as you go. And honestly, for what they have and the quality of everything, the price is more than fair and def worth it. TL;DR: EVERYONE HERE IS AMAZING SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!! More...

Best Pole Studio in the area! As a seasoned poler, I've been to almost all of the pole studios (excluding north county) and this one is my favorite by far! The instructors are some of the most talented in the community and are all very friendly and you always feel welcome when you walk in the door. The studio itself is beautiful with super tall poles (important once you start advancing) and sparkle lighting. I've personally taken classes from Tina, Holly, Haley, Maddox, Nicole and Niara and they are all very inspiring and encouraging as I'd imagine the other instructors are as well. They've also got some really fun non-pole dance classes, aerial yoga, flexibility, silks and lyra so there is a great variety as well. If you're looking a new pole dance home, to improve as a dancer, or to try out some aerial arts, you definitely should check it out. If you're not sure if pole is right for you but you are curious...TRY IT. I started 4 years ago and it's changed my life. Okay I have only been here twice so far but the vibes are super good in this place!  All these 5 star reviews are legit, ladies!  There's a reason for them!  I found Volare while I was looking to see if we had any extreme flexibility classes here in San Diego, because I am a lot less limber than I was when I was younger, but I still dance!  And I want my dancing to look easy.  A couple times when I've rewatched my iphone videos after taking a dance class, I've cringed cause there's moments I can definitely see a struggle!  HA!  I need to loosen up like the old days!First of all, the place is set up awesome, almost like a big garage or warehouse, with separate but close areas for pole, aerial yoga, silks, and that circus ring (lyra?).  Maddox is the owner and she really is as sweet as everybody writes about.  She gave me my first aerial yoga class and I LOVED it wayyyy more than regular yoga -- and I don't even like regular yoga that much!  The stretches were wayyy deeper, it was challenging in a different way, and bottom line just more fun for me.  We also listened to Snoop Dogg the entire time which the gangster not-so-deep inside of me greatly appreciated.  It was awesome!  Yesterday I was able to make the flexibility class with Sasha.  I can't lie, full disclosure, I was a little worried it would be some weak stretching I could totally do on my own at home with my dance background.  GIRL!  It was NO JOKE!  My body was bending in ways I never imagined or believed it could.  I'm not saying it was a walk in the park, it was super tough (I love a challenge) and I legit had to breathe my way through the class like I was giving birth and work through the (good kind of) pain, millimetering out of those poses, which is exactly what I wanted and how I know I'll progress!  I loved it.  I only wish I could've seen myself to believe it... but I definitely felt it, whew!  Get to this flexibility class NOW! I've been coming to Volare for over 6 months now to mainly train in pole and I can definitely say this is my home away from home. Maddox has built a gorgeous studio full of cozy lights and an amazing team of instructors with very strong skill sets. I've had the pleasure of working with all the pole instructors and always had something new to gain from every class. I really enjoy the loose free-spirit of this studio because the instructors are always open to working on your personal goals but also aren't afraid to make you work on nemesis moves so you can become a well rounded dancer. They truly care about making sure you grow strong enough to perform moves correctly and safely. I love how enthusiastic they are about recording student accomplishments and sharing it on social media because they take pride in their work. I also appreciate that many instructors have personally altered warm-ups and cool-downs to help me loosen tight areas of my body because I often hit roadblocks in moves that I can't achieve due to my limited flexibility. I have grown strong so much faster than I could imagine from routinely climbing the 17 feet tall poles and all the interesting conditioning exercises that get drilled into me. I've become addicted to seeing my growth and experiencing all the positive vibes in this studio that I will come to about 5 -10 classes a week. I have also tried the silks, aerial yoga, and flexibility classes and love my experience from those as well. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who wants to become strong and learn how to fly. I've been lucky enough to have her as an almost private teacher for a intro pole class and an intro aerial yoga class. I was really nervous going in to both classes (I'm not the most physically adept person), and she made me feel awesome! Every other person I've met at the studio so far, whether teachers or students, have been super kind and inviting. I've been here at 9am, 11am, and 7pm and never had trouble finding free street parking (2hrs). Make sure you register for the class online so they know you're coming. Can't wait for my next class! I'm addicted to this place!!!! I bought my monthly pass and this place turned into my second home. They have morning and evening classes so it's pretty accommodating and they offer all different kinds of levels! I'm about a level 1 & 2 and honestly had never touched a pole until last month. I thought it would be a fun idea to take the girls to a class for my bday and just kinda fell in love. The instructors are honestly the most sweetest women you will ever meet, even the other students are encouraging and helpful if you're not getting a move (so never feel embarrassed). Even some of the simplest moves can be hard to wrap your head around but every instructor brakes each part down for you so you can nail it. Maddax is the owner, she will introduce herself right away when you come in. If your a first timer I recommend taking your first few classes with her, she is so patient and explains everything step my step. All of the instructors are beautiful pole dancers and are always willing to demonstrate moves and transitions so you can get a visual of what they are wanting you to do! On top of pole, they offer yoga, ariel, silks, flex classes, open gym, choreo classes, yogalaties! But pole is lyfe and the best workout evaaaaaaaa More...

2 months ago, I was dragged into an "intro to aerial silks" class at Volare by my friend (a veteran aerialist), very skeptical and nervous. Tall, awkward, and not flexible, how the hell was I going to make myself look at all graceful while dangling from pieces of fabric in mid-air?! However, all unease was quickly erased with the help of our patient instructor (and the owner, herself!), Maddox. Maddox was kind, fun, willing to answer any question, and slowed things down when we needed it. As she guided us through pretty poses and transitions, the hour flew by and at the end, I felt like I had accomplished the impossible. I knew I had to come back.During my time at Volare (1-2 classes per week since), I've met a variety of instructors who are not only great teachers, but great people. They want you to get the most out of your workout, try things you never thought your body could do, and most of all, walk away feeling empowered from the process. Right when you think you've been pushed to your limit, Maddox, Haley, Sasha, Stacey, or the numerous other talented instructors, are right there to give you an encouraging word, helpful correction, or both. While there is a surprisingly high amount of aerial centers in the greater San Diego area, I wouldn't dream of training anywhere else but Volare. With so many talented instructors offering varying perspectives, and a beautifully clean facility with a wide assortment of aerial apparatuses, I've found a home in Volare that I never anticipated. It may seem intimidating at first to break into this tight community of pole and aerial artists, but don't sweat it! Everyone I've met through Volare is accepting and non-judgey, because they've all been in that position of a newcomer, afraid to look stupid but wanting to nail a tricky combination or new pose. If anything, if this gawky, former-athlete with no rhythm can do it, you can! More...

My maid of honor booked out a private bachelorette party for a party of 5! It was so amazing! The instructor was friendly and very accommodating! We had a lot of fun especially since most of us never tried it before. It was nice that it was private! The pole dancing part felt likeIt went by so fast but I think it as because we were having so much fun! The aerial yoga part was fun too! We got to learn some basics as well as a nice meditation pose complete with aromatherapy mist  It definitely was a nice touch to end a strenuous routine. They provided cupcakes, fruit, and water which was a very special touch! Balloons and the customized sign made me choke up a little! Needless to say, my MOH did her homework! I would definitely recommend this place for a bachelorette party or anybody who wants to learn how to pole dance for beginners! Thank you!! More...

Took my first Lyra beginners class on Monday with Maddox and immediately fell in love! First of all, Maddox is super sweet and patient! She made sure I was comfortable the entire time and offered support when I tried a pose I was nervous about. She was there for me every step of the way and I really appreciate that! The hoop is about 5 ft off the ground (I'm guessing since standing the hoop is at about my forehead and I'm 5 ft lol), being this was my first time I was really nervous about falling. Volare though has crash mats for clients to use, and Maddox reassured me as well by spotting me through poses that were difficult for me. Like I said before, she definitely had my back every step of the way :) thanks Maddox!! Quick note about Lyra: you are for sure getting an upper body workout lol. I was worried that I may not be strong enough for Lyra but hey, you have to start somewhere! I believe that you won't get stronger until you start trying. Don't be worried about not having enough strength, 1) your body might surprise you (mine did), and 2) this will help build muscle! The studio itself reminds me of an open gym. Front section is the pole dancing studio, behind it are the aerial hammocks, and in the back are the Lyra hoops. I was a little confused at first when I came in because I wasn't sure where the check in was but the instructor for pole art was really nice and showed me the way to the check in table where I was greeted by Hailey. She was sweet and gave me a little tour of the studio! I got there about 10 minutes early and was able to hang out for a bit until class. There are cubbies towards the front for shoes, purses, etc. there is also a bathroom - which is kept very clean!  As others have mentioned I would make sure to leave time to find some before going to class. I'm definitely going to be back for more classes - more Lyra & aerial for sure and also curious about pole, I'm a little nervous but if the instructors for the other classes are anything like Maddox I know I'm in good hands :)! These ladies showed us an amazing time for our bachelorette party! We had so much fun pole dancing and doing the yoga. They greeted us in such a cute way for the occasion and had water and tons of snack available. The teachers were encouraging and talented. Even though none of us pole danced before we all learned a few things and surprised ourselves. We were laughing and smiling the whole time. These ladies deserve all the stars! Thank you for a great afternoon! More...

First of all let's just take a moment to enjoy the cuteness of the studio. Secondly Maddox is seriously amazing and more than qualified. I did a private party to congratulate my bff for her wedding/birthday and she really understood that we were beginners lol. In the end we not only walked out with new skills and battle scars but also a new friend. Maddox was so freaking sweet and that alone makes me want to come again. Me and my bff are more on the "plus size" side and she didn't make me feel bad about it all. If you are trying to get in shape and don't want to settle for the boring gym, definitely take classes here. It is the most fun and heart pumping workout I've ever had. More...

I had started doing Lyra when I lived in CT but after moving to San Diego, I had fallen into a serious bout of laziness and depression. I decided to get myself up of the couch before my abs became so mushy, that getting up was no longer an option and so, I went in search on a Lyra studio. The first place I tried was a big name in the area and I found it very disappointing. I found the instruction lacking and the very young instructor was unable to assist those who aren't 20-year-old gymnasts. I left frustrated and disappointed, feeling bad about myself and all the strength I had lost during my time on the couch. After a few days though, I found myself, again, really missing the kind of fun I had as a beginner at my old studio. So I rekindled the search. This time I looked for a smaller place and stumbled on Volare. It had two things going against it: it is far away from me (13 miles, which by city standards might as well be in Arizona) and there was no reduced rate for your first class. I still had a very good feeling about it. Beginner Lyra wasn't happening until Friday so I took a pole class earlier in the week. Nikki, the instructor, is a tiny, pixie who flies around the pole and manages to do so without making the rest of us feel inadequate. Everyone in the class had a great time and she did some things I hadn't had a chance to do at my last studio. She also told us that our second class is free for first time clients! (Yay for me client discounts!) Lyra on Friday was even better. I loved the instructor, Juliana, from the second I met her. There was only one other woman in the class, who was a new pole instructor at the studio, so it was practically a private lesson. I got to work muscles that had been long asleep. Juliana had to help me with my mounts ( I never was good at those) and getting from Amazon, back into the hoop (because my abs said, what is this? This is so much harder than sitting on the couch!) I felt fulfilled. I have talked to two other women who went, once, to the big name studio and had a disappointing experience. I will definitely recommend to those women that they try again at Volare.
