They were quick to get Dakotah in and get her seen. (It was early Sunday so it wasn't super packed.) They were direct to the point on what was wrong with her and were very sweet and gentle. I absolutely love this place. They were so understanding and patient with us. My husband and I are probably a little overly protective of our girl and they were just great. Thank you Dr. Murphy and staff for helping our girl :) More...

3 years ago our boy Moo (dachshund) damaged a disk in his back and Dr Roberts performed surgery and he was as good as new sadly Monday night it happened yet again. The love we have for him is worth more than money itself so again my Mom and Dad opted for him to have the surgery. This time Dr. Gale took care of him. My Dad and I dropped him off on Tuesday and when they took him away I broke down pretty badly. Dr. Gale assured me that he was in good hands. Today was surgery day and from the call we got he was a little trooper as always! He he is still recovering and has to stay a couple nights but he is in great hands. I personally want to thank both Dr Gale and Dr. Roberts for giving Moo his legs back and the staff for caring so much for him. It will be a long road to recovery but I am glad we still have him in our lives. More...

If I could give 10 stars I would. The staff was wonderful, kind and compassionate. Every person from the receptionist I spoke to before going in, the techs and the vet who helped our girl pass were the best. They didn't try to do any unnecessary treatment. We knew it was time and they did exactly what we wanted and needed. Thank you ladies you tried your best to make a difficult time for us a little better. I am forever grateful. More...

This place is fantastic. Not only did they keep me informed about everything that was going on with my dog's surgery, they were always willing to answer any questions, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the final payment came in BELOW their low end estimate - they actually refunded money back to my Credit Card! Special thanks to Dr. Gregory in Emergency and Dr. Yeh in Ophthalmology for taking such good care of our girl. I had great interactions with EVERY member of the staff I spoke with, they are all really caring and helpful. 100% Recommend!! More...

We had an emergency with one of our cats over the weekend and we were hoping that things would either get better or be able to wait until Monday so we could call our normal vet for an appointment. On Sunday morning we knew our cat needed help and needed to be seen that day. The staff at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware were terrific – from our first panicked phone call until we checked out, we were treated wonderfully and with patience and respect. When we arrived, we were seen by a triage nurse who took vitals and got the history of our cat. She explained everything she was doing and was very caring and kind towards our furball. She explained that the doctor would be in afterwards and within 15 minutes the doctor arrived. She reviewed the situation and history of our cat’s health and then based on what she had observed told us what she thought the issue might be. She explained that she needed to take our cat back to the exam room and told us everything that she was going to do. When she returned, she reviewed everything with us, and her diagnosis was spot on. She told us she had some samples that she wanted to send out to a lab and gave us the choice of whether to do it. She explained the medication our cat would need for the next week including the dosage, instructions for administering it and answered all our questions. She explained that it would be awhile while she got the medication ordered and got us ready for checkout and told us in the meantime, we could let our cat out of the carrier to explore the room and relax. The longest part of the visit was waiting for the medication and checkout, but our cat was so exhausted that she stayed in her carrier and slept so it didn’t really matter. Checkout went smoothly and we felt the cost was much less than we were expecting it to be. I don’t think that the prices here are outrageous – this is a full-service hospital with staff on hand to perform lab work, procedures and basically handle any emergency and they were open 24 hours over the weekend. I think the price was very reasonable and I was happy that we took our cat there and trusted them with her care. I would recommend this center to anyone needing emergency care for their pet – they were wonderful to deal with. I can’t thank them enough. More...

Great vets, especially Dr. Goldkamp. Dr. Murphy was also good when she found a heart condition in our dog. At our pet's end, the tending emergency vet was very understanding and supportive. Due to demand, front desk sometimes gets overwhelmed. Signage about priorities such as emergency call-ins, and little more attention to people waiting would benefit this overall great operation. I just want to say thank you to the doctors and staff at VSCD! I had got my german shepherd puppy Mufasa a week ago and noticed he was not doing well. I took him to get checked at VCA and there Dr. Jennifer suggested he'd be taken in to start treatment for parvo. That was one of my worst nightmares and I kept praying it wasn't that. However, it was showing faint and we were told VSCD staff already knew we were coming and a round about cost for him to stay and start treatment. I was so scared and nervous, but upon arrival the staff was friendly, sympathetic and knowledgeable about what they could do to help Mufasa. He stayed overnight and they went to work with getting him better! Even though I could barely sleep because I was thinking about him all night I knew he was in good hands. When I called to check up on him I was happy to know he was doing well. So far since he's been home and we're following the instructions of giving him his medication and staying quarantined for a week he's shown signs of improvement and even has his ears standing up along with some weight! Thank you guys so much for the love and care you have shown to Mufasa! P.S. Sorry if he whined your ears off, he's spoiled already. Lol More...

A lot of the people who have reviewed don't seem to understand this is a 24 hour veterinary hospital. Triage means they take the most critical (about the die) patients first. If there is a critical patient in the facility you may wait a while. Wouldn't you want upfront care if your pet was in critical condition or would you want "Sorry, Sally has been waiting 45 minutes so your dying pet has to wait". No. With that being said, VSC was amazing. We checked in easily, were taken back in 10 minutes and triaged. We waited about 30 minutes to 1 hour once we were taken back but they communicated that they had a critical patient. We eventually got seen by a doctor in a reasonable time frame and they recommended hospitalization. They gave us an estimate upfront which they ended up being under their low estimate which was appreciated. He was only hospitalized for 1 day instead of the 2-3. They did a lot of tests and we're still waiting for results. The staff called us three times in the 24 hours he was there to give an update on Ardyn, go over fees and let us know what they were doing and how he was doing. When discharged we waited a while but we had such phenomenal service and attention and didn't feel rushed at all with our questions once they finally came out to talk to us. We were also told about turn around times for tests, follow ups and told to call with ANY questions. They made us feel very welcome to call. The biggest gripe I see people have is not understanding that this is a specialty center, one of the best places in Delaware to take your pet. You pay for that price. You pay for those specialists and that level of care. I didn't like the 2,400 dollar price tag for all the tests but he was my baby and I'm VERY satisfied with the care and love VSC gave Ardyn. I hope we never have to come again for a sick visit but I know if he does need to come he'll be in great hands. Thank you VSC. :) More...

I wish this hospital was a primary vet as well instead of just emergency. I’d drive an hour or so just to go here over other places. They are kind, compassionate, and made one of the worst days of my life easier for me. I will always be grateful to the emergency vet that took the time to speak to me about my options and what I should do with my dog that we all knew was going to die soon despite all of the treatments and thousands of dollars I had spent trying to save her. Forever grateful to these amazing doctors More...

Last month I had to bring my Dog in for an emergency. Unfortunately I had to put her down after 2 days of treatment. I just want to sincerely thank the members of that Vet on how they handle the whole situation. They were compassionate and professional on how they treated my dog and me during her last moments. Also I was really grateful on how they provide by dog back with dignity. They were very accommodating during the whole trial. Thanks again for your help and expertise. More...
