Don’t know how this place only has 3.4 starts. Third time here with my dog over past 2 years... the only dog er/ hospital I trust. Excellent diagnostics, not overly expensive, and no WEIRDNESS. I drive from westchester to bring my dog here. I have confidence in this facility, and I am in the medical field myself! More...

No hesitation next time--driving straight here if we ever need these services again. A person can be trained on procedures, technology and diagnosis, but it's hard to train the intuitive things like patience, compassion, calm and empathy, which are so necessary. Many thanks!

Exceptional experience, period. My dog got sick on a Friday, by Saturday he was clearly in need of assistance beyond what I could provide. I had never been to VCA before, every aspect of my visit to VCA WAS EXCEPTIONAL. The lovely ladies in reception were very nice and expeditious. Vet tech Cara was thorough. Dr. Jeff was excellent. He took his time asked questions, gave me the time to ask my own and answered them thoroughly. The level of professionalism on all levels was superb. It's not their fault that my dog was ill but they did their best to make a very unpleasant situation as tolerable as they could. There were several other animal owners there during my visit , not very crowded but busy. I never felt neglected and the staff were thorough and never dismissive. Medications were prescribed and they took the time to fully explain the condition of my dog, the future outlook and the medications to me. They are not my regular veterinarian due to distance between their office and my home but they forwarded all bloodwork and test results to my local vet. Exceptional service guys, thank you very much. I would not hesitate to utilize their service in the future. Let's face it, no one wants to go to an emergency room ,especially for our pets but they made a very unpleasant and tense situation more than bearable. More...

A long overdue rating. My cat went in with a massive fibrocarcoma and a 3 month prognosis. Dr Palmisano and the team were exceptional. She had radiation treatment afterward at VC Cancer who said the team did an amazing job with the surgery. 4 years later I’m sitting here listening to her purr. More...

I had just gotten a puppy and in less than a week of having her she developed a severe case of infectious pneumonia. She had tests done at the vet to clarify and was told to bring her to VCA VREC to finish out her care since they are open 24hrs. I was very impressed with the facility and kindliness of the staff. I have encountered nothing but the best from everyone there. My puppy was in ICU in an oxygen tank which was constantly monitored by a technician. She was admitted on Monday and visiting her everyday, it was now Thursday and she was getting no better. After having some doubts the doctor called and told me they need to put her on a stronger antibiotic, the next day she looked amazing and had an instant turnaround. We also were waiting on a test to tell us what type of bacteria she had so they could give her the correct antibiotic, turns out the one they chose to switch her to was the right one. We were able to take her home Saturday. During her five day stay we visited her everyday and asked about 20 questions a day. No doctor or technician ever rushed our conversations and always took the time to answer questions to the best of their knowledge. The front desk always had our paperwork ready to go, was friendly, funny and took the time to chat. During the five day stay everyone got to know our puppy and she was famous there. Every time we walked in for follow up appts. everyone welcomed us and our beloved dog. Nothing but the best care and best staff all around. More...

We took our mini dachshund here late at night after an accident which left our dachshund with broken ribs and pulmonary contusions. The care our dog received was excellent. The staff was considerate. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because the cost of emergency veterinary care is extremely high. People who bring their animals in for emergency care are vulnerable. If you have pet insurance, or your animal is in a life threatening situation, I recommend VCA. If you have time to consider other options or do not have pet insurance, I recommend researching facilities with better cost-to-service ratios. I am grateful for the care my dogs received. However, in my opinion, the care could be delivered at more reasonable costs. More...

We brought our cat in who was unable to walk and obviously in extreme trouble. Our guy is only 12 1/2 but he has diabetes and gets a shot 2x a day and also is hypothyroid. Generally we would have brought him to our local vet but it being Christmas Eve that was not an option. We brought him here and thought we were probably going to lose him The staff went into a rapid response mode and got him all set up, we were able to come back and see him in the ICU and we were heartened to see him set up with an iv and a heated blanket. The dr explained all they would do and then the bill came. Too much for us, we talked to the dr and they were great at working with us to bring the bill down some. Three days later and we're hoping to bring our guy home with us! The staff was wonderful and very competent. They let us know what they were doing every step of the way. I can't say enough about how relieved we are that Spencer is going to come home with us! More...

Brought in Oliver several weeks ago, eyes swollen and rolled into the back of his head, face swollen, projectile vomiting blood at about 11:00pm at night. No known cause, in hysterics. VCA's Veterinary team had him in their arms soon as I had walked through the door. An hour later they had significantly turned his allergic reaction around and a few days later he was back to normal. Their facility is beautiful, staff are calm and kind, I cannot think of a single thing they could possibly improve upon. To those claiming they are pricey - YES, emergency hospitals ARE pricey, they have to be fully staffed and equipped 24/7. And to VCA's, credit, Oliver's visit was completely within budget - not unreasonably expensive by any means. Oliver & I thank VCA and their wonderful staff. More...

Staff truly cares and are there to help... It's been a really difficult time for us and the staff at this hospital are amazing! Laura responds to emails and provides a wealth of information.. morning, day, night and weekends. It's a bit of a drive for us, but 100% worth the friendly treatment and support. Of course I wish we never had to come in under these circumstances, but we appreciate all that has been done, not just for our little one, but also for her crazy mama! More...

Our dog Ringo spent the entire night having severe seizures. We realized it was his time to be at peace so we called the VCA center to let them know we were on our way. They met us at our car with a gurney and compassion, immediately took Ringo to the back and made sure we were ready. They were kind and very caring before, during and after he was gone. Yesterday we received a clay paw cast of Ringo's paw print, with his name. The vet took the time to write a lovely note expressing sorrow for our loss of Ringo. I highly recommend this vet and clinic! More...

When I relocated to CT, I was very concerned about finding a quality vet clinic… again. Knowing how crucial this is to my pet’s wellbeing, I was not looking forward to the process. I tried some but much to my dismay, left due to poor service and soaring prices. I needed to act quickly because my Cattledog was showing odd signs and the vets I tried were blowing it off because they couldn’t diagnose the problem. I knew something was wrong so I looked for a specialist and found Dr. Dianne Kittrell at VCA Animal Hospital in Norwalk, CT. I first met with her assistant, Laura Dotta, who was amazing from the get go. Not only did she attend to us in a manner I felt very taken care of, she has continued to do so over the years. She goes way above and beyond, faxing info to me, researching labs, teaching good injection sites… everything to ensure my pets get the best care. I just love her! Then I had the honor of meeting Dr. Kittrell, who in my opinion is the best vet I have ever worked with! She is an Internal Medicine Specialist and was able to diagnose my Cattledog in an instant. She had Acute Cushing’s disease. Dr. Kittrell order an ultrasound to get a baseline of the tumor and we’ve been doing one a year ever since to make sure the tumors stay small as well as the liver health remains constant. She is amazing! Even though she couldn’t be my “everyday” vet because she’s a specialist and doesn’t do annual visits/shots, she referred me to Dr. Ragan out of her sister site in VCA Darien who is equally talented. This year, when my dog’s blood work showed anomalies both he and Dr. Kittrell were in close contact watching it. After a few months and blood values rising, she had another look at my pet and diagnosed a serious tumor that needed removal from her parathyroid gland. I was floored because my pet had been through enough but Dr. Kittrell alleviated my worries and concerns and set up everything. The surgeon, Dr. Matthew Palmisano was outstanding, after care doctor, Dr. Lacassagne, who made sure she stayed stable and Stella, surgery liaison who made me laugh when I needed it. The teams, as a whole, made “people hospitals” look amateur! My pet recovered perfectly and the team got us ready for the next relocation to FL. I was sick to my stomach leaving this incredible clinic and Dr. Kittrell and verbalized my dismay to Dr. Kittrell about starting my search again! Both she and Laura offered to do it for me so I could pack and start my move free of worries. These ladies are a class act! There are few times in life you meet exceptional people you know you will remember for a lifetime. Dr. Kittrell and Laura Dotta will always be two of those people for me. I am so grateful for their compassion toward my pet and excellence in knowledge that I always felt and knew my Quigley was in the best hands ever. Thank you Dr. Kittrell, Laura and the entire VCA Norwalk staff for being remarkable! I stand in awe of you! More...
