Not the easiest to find on the second floor of the building with the entrance in the back, but worth it and very helpful! I would definitely have them work on my computer again.

I went in recently to get the screen replaced on my 2017 Macbook Pro and had a good experience with Craig. He's a very welcoming and friendly man that provides quality service at a reasonable price, and my screen replacement went well! My only complaint was that I didn't receive any updates regarding the status of my service nor any estimate of when to expect it to be done, and I constantly had to call to ask for any updates or an estimate. In the end, the service took one week to get done, which was reasonable, but I wish I had received more updates. More...

My hard drive crashed and couldn't get to start up. Problem diagnosed and solved quickly and at a reasonable price including data recovery, new hard drive install, and overall got everything back and rolling like new! I arrived at TopTech/The Eldest Geek yesterday afternoon with a completely non-functional computer. The previous night, my boyfriend and I had tried to replace the battery in my computer, but there was a screw that wouldn't come out. When I tried to turn the computer back on, it wouldn't work at all. I took it to our IT guy at work and he wasn't able to get the screw out either, and couldn't get the computer to turn back on. Craig looked at my computer and said he would be able to get the screw out and replace the battery (which I had bought myself) in three days. I resigned myself to using my crappy work-issued computer for the next few days. I got a call later that afternoon that my computer had already been fixed. Really pleased with the service I received. I had an old laptop that wasn't working anymore. I wanted to see if it was worth repairing or not. Derek evaluated my laptop for FREE! All other places wanted to charge a diagnostic fee. He explained my repair options/costs. I asked if they'd be willing to buy it and they gave me a very fair offer which I accepted. My girlfriends Lenovo Legion laptop was broken and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Craig figured out the issue and got it working again in a timely manner and for a fair price. I will definitely be coming again!

I had an unfortunate issue with my Dell Laptop because somehow a type of ransomware messed up the system. The bootup partitin of the hard drive was no longer being recognized which caused the system to not bootup at all. The other partitins of the hard drive were wrecked as well. Craig implemented the first solution to change out the hard drive. Thankfully he was able to recover the files from the 1st hard drive by usong a soohisticated system. He then needed to re-nstall Windows 10. Once that was done a completely different system error resilted which was identified as a TPM error. Alex performed an additional scan and analysis which took some time to find out the cause of the TPM error. In order to test he needed to re-start the system more than ten times because the same error kept rrcurring. Alex was finally able to determine the error was cuased by Dell's firmware and removing this option solved the issue. I appreciate their help with this comolex issue. More...

The problem: my older Dell laptop had stopped receiving wifi from the router. None of the fixes I tried worked, so I just hooked up an ethernet cable to span the 3-foot distance from router to desk. However, the day arrived when I needed to take my laptop with me on a trip. Oops. My search for help brought me to TopTech (Craig, "Oldest Geek"). The reviews sounded great; my initial contact with him (email and phone) sounded like he could help me. Made an appointment to go in. I had concluded the internal wifi adapter had stopped working, and Oldest Geek concurred after testing. After being in his shop for 4 hours (a number of interruptions for other customers, etc.), he sent me home ($120 fee) with a temporary fix: several software apps installed. Shortly after returning home and before I needed to leave on the trip, wifi went out again. He installed a remote software that allowed him get back into my laptop and get wifi back again. He then explained to me how to do it myself. He promised to keep researching the problem and let me know how to permanently repair. I got back in touch several times (email and phone messages). He has yet to return my messages. The wifi still goes out about every 5-6 days, but I have learned how to use the app he installed to repair and get wifi running again. These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button  (which wouldn't turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop. <br><br>They are located in Mount Vernon but don't let that scare you if you are in Arlington - they also do house calls. <br><br>They provide a six-month warranty on any repair. <br><br>They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs.  <br><br>If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that.  <br><br>TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems. More...
