Stopped past Throwndown at the LA Foodieland event and OMG the soulfood egg roll was one of the best things I have had. It is literally Thanksgiving in a egg roll it was so moorish and filling. Went to the Hot Water cornbread festival and ordered the Oxtail plate with Mac nd cheese, and red beans and rice. First off the Oxtails was way to salty and the Mac and cheese was not hitting. Fire! This food is sooo bomb! I got the oxtails, mac n cheese, yams, and greens. The food was delicious! The portions were not small. The food was so good I swallowed it all in one setting. I thought since it was a lot of food I would save some for dinner, it was way to good to save. I didn't like the greens, but everything else was made to perfection. Listen baaaaby when I tell you this IS my new go to spot for soul food!!! Forget M&M's, R&R and the rest because this is THEE BEST! ! I ordered the fried pork chop, greens, mac and yams and my mom had the smothered pork chops with the same sides. Everything was like a party in my mouth bursting with the right amount of flavor. You know some soul food is so salty your chest starts hurting. Generous amount of gooey cheese in the mac, yams we're sweet, but not like the give you diabetes sweet and greens were kickin. I had Throwdown Soulfood recently for a bday brunch via @blackownedfoodla and it was delicious Grits and fried salmon, pecan waffles, cheesy eggs (but not too cheesy) OMG the glazed bacon, fried potatoes, fried chicken and biscuits.
