A great website is uncluttered, non-obtrusive. It is visually appealing, with pictures or a slider that showcases the client's business. It has just the right amount of information in a very stylized and easy to navigate function. Too much information and the visitor may not have any reason to call or contact you, but having just the right information that leaves the visitor with one or two questions gives the business owner the opportunity to speak directly to the visitor, the potential client, or make contact via email. Websites are merely an avenue to get to know a business somewhat, but not entirely. Just speaking, of course, of service businesses. Their model of websites is different from e-commerce, where the site should have everything the visitor needs to make a purchase. But, the local service business website should be designed differently. It should be a stepping stone, featuring the best the business has to offer, but leaving just a little tucked away so that the visitor needs to make that call or fill out a contact form so that there is verbal contact between the business owner and visitor to make a formal introduction.
