My son attended the after care program for three school years and we both loved it. On the first day of kindergarten I had no clue how to get my son home, Master Hoehn called me that day to ask if I had made my mind up about joining and when I said I hadn’t, he offered to pick my son up from school that week for free so he could try the program. Needless to say that week turned to 3 school years!! Master Hoehn and Dr Hoehn were two amazing role models and made it a very family environment that my son never wanted to leave. I did not feel guilty having him there. He learned the true art of martial arts and loved it so much he joined their demo team and competed locally and Statewide. I have been a student of Master Hoehn's for over 10 years and my son for almost 4 years. He participates in both regular classes as well as their summer camp program. I can honestly say the dojang is more than a school, it's our family! Everyone is professional, caring and extremely knowledgeable. Their summer camp is fun and educational. Master Hoehn and Sheila are always coming up with different classes to spice things up. Anything from fitness classes and martial arts seminars to bringing in NAVY SEALS for self defense training. I can't even begin to explain how very very happy I am with the zen life center. I started going about a month ago, because I was told by a friend that it was a warm, positive place, where you're welcomed with open arms. I'm happy to say that my friend was right. I was greeted by a very sweet girl at the front desk, and she helped me by answering all of my questions. She was also very kind enough to introduce me to the master instructor and his wife. The master instructor gave me a trial class of Tae Kwon Do, (which is a martial art I have never done before) but not before signing a waiver. I liked the class, and I was very impressed with my flexibility. I will continue to come to this school in the future, and I will also tell all of my friends about this amazing place. The Zen Life Center is more than a Martial Arts School, after school care, or summer camp, but a community. The school is lead by Dr. Sheila, and Master Richard Hohen who are passionate leaders in their profession. The Zen-life center embodies the five philosophy of TaeKwonDo: Perseverance, Self-control, inimitable spirit, courtesy, integrity, which have contributed to the success of there students. At the age of five, I became a student of Hohen's martial art school. Due to learning disabilities, My parents enrolled me into all the school had to offer summer camp, demo team, competition team, and after school program. It took eight years to earn my black belt than an additional three years to teach martial arts. At 26 years old, I do not practice TaeKwonDo at the moment, but I still communicate with the school and the Hohen's. I carry my experiences and memories at the Zen life center everyday. I host a summer camp for Deaf and hard of hearing students from K-12th grade, their hearing siblings, and children of Deaf adults. We are EXTREMELY grateful The Zen Life Center has participated in our camps year after year. They bring much knowledge, experience, information, and education to our campers, volunteers, and parents. They have provided classes at our camp and have given scholarships to our campers every year. This year they gave a scholarship to one of our DHH students and their sibling. I have been training with Master Richard Hoehn for almost 20 years. He is an amazing martial artist, mentor and friend. I currently live about an hour and a half away from the Zen Life Center and would not consider going anywhere else. When my son was in 2nd grade we moved to the Winter Springs area. My son was shy and allowed the other kids to verbally bully him. I called Adventure Martial Arts one day out of panic and desperation. Master Hoehn spent over an HOUR on the phone with me discussing my son. My son started TKD that week and we have never looked back! He is now 13 and just earned his black belt!At first, I just took my son to Adventure Martial Arts. He quickly became interested in competing which meant Saturday practices to prepare. Which meant I got more and more time to interact with the other parents and meet their kids. I am very proud to say that after our 5 years at AMA nearly all the families are now family friends! We practice together, we compete together, we win together, we lose together, and we are social with each other. For the last year my husband and I have also started our journey to Black Belt status. Like I said it is a family rich environment. Even if not every child's parents came come work out with them - they never feel left out or alone because all the parents adore all the kids! Our son LOVES that we workout with him. Specifically because he is the Black Belt and is "over us because we are lower belts!I could spend 100 days telling you all how much I adore the owners and staff of Adventure Martial Arts. As I mentioned, from the beginning, Master Hoehn was 100% dedicated to my son and wanted to immediately stop the bullying. At Adventure Martial Arts the kids learn about respect, self-discipline, honor, trust, perseverance, and self-control. ALL of the classes are fun. The little kids seem to especially enjoy the after school care. From day ONE my son looked up to Master Hoehn. In fact, two years ago I wanted to move back home and my son would not leave Master Hoehn! He could not picture his life or happiness without this strong mentor. Master Hoehn and Sheila Hoehn are the owners and they treat every single child (those with ADD, those with OCD, those with Autism, etc..) with respect, kindness and understanding. They are 100% always MORE THAN WILLING to help the child and or the family. I have NO DOUBT that Master Hoehn and AMA CHANGED who my son was going to be - for the BETTER! He was once bullied shy and now he is happy, confident, patient, and not afraid! That is the best gift I was ever given in my LIFE!I understand one person posted on here and was upset because his/her little girl (5 I think ) got on the wrong bus. That reviewer seemed upset because the driver didnt have a list of children. While I can understand the TERROR of a little 5 yr old getting on the wrong bus and ending up in a foreign place I can only say WHAT A HAPPY ACCIDENT! That little girl could not have been in safer hands. Believe me when I tell you from over 5 years experience with these people (and not 1 random day when I was terrified my little girl was lost) that EVERY EMPLOYEE knows the name of EVERY STUDENT in the building! It may take 1-2 visits for them to recognize on sight a new student, but that student is integrated into the AMA family very quickly. While I am empathize with that parent I dont feel you should weight their stray review very heavily. Their experience simply is NOT the norm in my experience - not opinion - experience.If you have a child, nephew, grand-daughter, etc that needs to be more active, needs help with self-control, needs a good outlet where they are safe, needs a wonderful male or female role model/mentor...Adventure Martial Arts is the place!We have made so many wonderful friends I doubt we will EVER leave. Our family looks forward to seeing the after school kids (where my son recently started helping during the classes), the tournament team members, the fitness members, all of the parents and family that comes with them, and most definitely the STAFF!!
