While we were away we left our two cats in their care. We received twice daily update reports, with photos. One of our cats is wary of new people while the other is super friendly and she cared for them both extremely well. I was extremely disappointed with my first and only interaction with Well-Trained Dog and Pet Care. The owner appeared only interested in getting me signed up for services and less in getting to know me and my pets;
the experience felt rushed and not personal at all. When I expressed that I was interviewing several potential dog walkers and I would like to set up a meet and greet (since my two dogs are both rescues and have abuse histories, I need to see how people whom I invite into my home to care for them will interact with them), she was not supportive of this step as it appeared to be an inconvenience for both her and any potential walker. She even noted that since a meet and greet would not invoke any money from me, she was not interested in this step. She did not seem to be able to understand that I would want to vet a person whom would be taking care of my fur-babies before actually hiring them. I let her know that I was not interested in her services.
I would not recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a walk who will care for their fur babies rather than just make money from them.

My company policy is to set up a meet and greet only when we are hired. We do not "interview" for jobs. My website speaks to our outstanding service. We asked Beverly to train our puppy, Chase. But she also taught us how to train him. He was young but with repetition, he understands the house rules and manners. Recently, we have had painters or other folks come to the front door and this has been such an improvement. We worked really hard on this and we get so many compliments on his behavior. We love working with Beverly to help our dogs work on some undesirable behaviors. You can tell she really cares about her clients, both dogs and people! Buddy our 2 year old had not had much training (our fault, we were spending a lot of our time with ill family members last year). So he had a lot to learn. She worked with Buddy and our 3 year old dog Jovi and with my husband and I for us to have more control over them. We still have a couple issues to work out but Buddy has come a long way! He would have never done this well in a group class with other dogs. He is much more focused and he is really is eager to please us. We just needed to know some training tricks to use with him. What do you love most about your job?
helping teach people how to train their dogs and to give them peace of mind when they go to work or away on vacation that we'll take care of their pets and home while they're gone.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In 2009 someone I worked with at the time told me about the National Geographic series Dogtown, which was shot in Utah where I had lived before moving to Virginia. I watched a couple episodes and booked my first trip to Best Friends Animal Society, which was where the series was shot. Over the years, I visited Best Friends 14 times and worked with various dogs, including some of the Vicktory (former Michael Vick dogs). I also volunteered over the years with animal rescues and a service dog organization and felt I could make a difference to pets and their owners in this area of the country.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because our services are conducted 100 percent at the client's home (unless the client prefers virtual dog training services.) The pet is more comfortable at its own home while the family is gone so we try to replicate what the family does with feeding, walking, etc. as much as possible.
Dog Training
I teach you how to train your dog in your own home.
Dog Walking
If your dog is lonely while you're at the office or you just want him to have a break while you're working from home, we will exercise and play with your dog.
Pet Sitting
We can do several drop-in visits per day or stay overnights at your home when your're away on vacation. We also bring in the mail, water the plants, and do a walk-through of the home to make sure there are no broken pipes, etc.
