You hear the horror stories of seamstress taking months to alter your dress the minute you say it's a wedding dress, but not here! She knew exactly what I wanted and is knowledgeable enough to provide suggestions to give you what you actually need. The bodice was what needed all of the work and because of the extensive beading I was worried it was be an expensive and long project to get the alterations done. Not at all!  She was able to insert cups, brought the waist in, made the arm holes larger (no idea whose arm was suppose to fit there originally) and made buttons to tie my train up after the ceremony (so that I could walk without someone having to run behind me!).Easy in and out appointments and I received my dress back in a month. I didn't want to go to a cheap place, so I this place because the tailors themselves frequently fly back and forth to Italy and France to keep up with their inventory and current styles. It's risky going to a new tailor, because some downright ruin your clothes, but my first experience here was a genuine relief! Whenever I have clothes I really care about, I'm coming back here. After searching through every department store  for an elegant, chic, yet modest dress, and dreadfully wasting many hours on unsuccessful shopping trips, I decided to try out House of Couture after reading all the positive reviews on yelp. I am SO happy I made that decision, and my only regret is not having discovered this place sooner. I showed Sharifa an Instagram photo of the dress I wished for and described the modifications I wanted. She magically pulled out the exact same fabric that was on the dress from under her table, and she did it so quickly that I can't say I wasn't impressed. From then on, I trusted that she had the skills and expertise to create what I was asking for. She asked me a few questions (cloth color & neckline style), took my measurements, and had me come back in several weeks for a fitting. Sharifa will make exactly what you want, but to be fair, you need to be very detailed and exact in telling her how you want your dress made. When I can back for my first fitting, the dress was just as I imagined (soooo beautiful!), but I did request for a certain change to be made to the boddess, which she accommodated for a fee but with a quick turnaround  (another few weeks). I also requested fit a tighter fit and she also accommodated that with a perfect result. I definitely plan on coming back. More...

House of Couture tailored my dress perfectly for my wedding day! Sharifa Raouf made sure I felt comfortable and confident in my dress during each fitting. I am grateful that I was connected with her to tailor my dress as she promptly answered any questions I had and also went out of her way to work with my schedule for dress fittings. I had a sweetheart top and a medium-sized train, but Sharifa made sure the dress was snug in the right places and that I could feel comfortable dancing the night away. She addressed any concerns I had and provided helpful advice on how to take of my dress. I was thrilled that I could easily and gracefully move around in my dress. Sharifa was great. I had two dresses made for my wedding and they each turned out just as I'd imagined. We met several times to ensure that the design for each was what I wanted and then come fitting time, with some final adjustments they each fit perfect. Sharifa made me a gorgeous customized wedding gown and did a fabulous job!  I couldn't have been happier with my dress and experience. Thank you very much Sharifa!  Prior to finding The House of Couture, I had been shopping around, trying on many dresses, but not having much luck.  The dresses I actually liked needed way too many alterations or were simply outside of my price range.  I quickly realized any dress off the rack or ordered would need expensive alterations or would be impossible to fix as bridal stores told me I risked losing the silhouette of the dress due to the amount of required alterations.  I continued my search by calling various bridal and dress shops looking for ideas.  Fortunately, I found The House of Couture.  My first interaction with Sharifa was on the phone describing my hardship finding a dress.   She put my mind at ease and told me she could custom make a dress for me in my price range.  I loved the idea of a custom made dress!  We scheduled an appointment for a few days later.  In the meantime, I sent her pictures of styles I liked, as well as pictures of me in dresses.  I was really impressed when I met Sharifa and I knew immediately that I had found the perfect person to help me!  She was well prepared for my visit and had taken the time to look through magazines to find additional pictures of dresses she thought I might like.  I could tell that she was genuinely trying to make me a dress that I would like and that would look good on me.  She had fabric and lace swatches ready to show me too that she thought would go nicely with my complexion and style preferences.  I tried on some of her beautiful gowns as she wanted me to get a feel for her work and she wanted to see how different dress styles looked one me.  I knew right away that I could trust her judgement and expertise.  Another bonus, Sharifa was fast and had my gown completed in one month!  She sent me pictures prior to my arrival for my fitting.  The fitting went really well!  She had to make some minor changes and we also decided on a vail.  My final visit was to pick up her masterpiece and get ready for my big day.  I highly recommend Sharifa at The House of Couture and I will be going to her again for future dresses!  Thank you! I came to Sharifa to have two separate dresses made for my wedding.  I allowed eight months for them to be made which was plenty.  Prom season came right in the middle which I knew would be busy for her, and it was. I had my measurements taken and selected the material.  We spoke several times about design and I brought in pictures of pieces of dresses that I liked for each one, (i.e. this back, with this front, with this waist etc.) Both dresses were just as imagined, one a bit more conservative, one a bit more "party".  She assured me that they would each fit perfect when all was said and done and they did. Having a dress made is not as easy or as instantly gratifying as walking into a store and buying one, but designing exactly what you want start to finish is a very gratifying experience and a result I couldn't have been happier with. Sharifa helped me out when I was a in a pinch! Due to the hurricanes, the dress I ordered from Anthropologie, came later than expected. I planned on wearing the dress to a wedding the following weekend. I called other alteration services and none could turn around the alteration in time.  I called Sharifa. She was very patient in allowing me to explain my situation and she assured me that she would be able to make the necessary alterations in time. Sharifa's shop is beautiful and clean. This place isn't really a store, but rather a very sweet woman who makes custom dresses to your specifications. she has some very unique and special dresses of her own design, but you need to go in advance. no last minute shopping here. I purchased my daughters prom dress last minute, (two weeks) before prom. Her dress was ready a week later! Ms. Sharif is very patient, and kind as we came in to have the dress altered, always very courteous and professional. My daughter absolutely loves her dress as it customized to her figure. Next year we will be returning to Ms. Sharif for a custom tailored formal evening dress, as my daughter wants an original design. The most enjoyable part of this experience was not standing in line to be checked out, or waiting in line to get into a dressing room. Really great place. Hard to find at first. Photo provided is to help find entrance. You go in this entrance and will see elevator. That will take you to her place. Exit elevator and look for 200F. First let me start by saying that working with Sharifa was a wonderful experience from start to finish.I found a photo of a wedding dress online and emailed it to Sharifa to ask if she could make it.  She gave me a price and when all was said and done, that is how much I paid, no hidden costs, just an honest estimate of my beautiful dress. House of Couture saved us! Last year I was Maid of Honor in my best friend's wedding. As a great Maid of Honor, I did my very best on helping her with anything she needed for her perfect beautiful wedding. She wanted the bridesmaid dresses to be fitted, classy and sexy. Her and I must of went to three different bridal stores to try on bridesmaid dresses and she thought they were all hideous. Which led her to wanting custom made bridesmaid dresses. We must of called over 10 different places from the Bay Area to LA looking for the right person to make these dresses. We found a couple places that could do it but we were being quoted $700 - $1,500 per dress!!! Big time out of our price range. We were about to give up on the custom made dresses idea until we called House of Couture. Sharifa quoted us for 5 custom made bridesmaid dresses $300 a dress. We were sold! My best friend and I went out there and showed the seamstress a picture of how we wanted the bottom half of the dress to look like and 5 other different pictures of how we wanted the top half of each dress to look like. We wanted each dress to have a different top half (spaghetti strap, strapless, one shoulder, etc.)  Sharifa had no problem with everything we were requesting and kept saying it was no problem and to email her the pictures so she can draw up sketches. We also picked out the material and color swatches. She had every fabric swatch possible which was great! Her fabric swatches even had different levels of quality which also means different price ranges. We made a second appointment to have all the bridesmaid go get measured. Then we had a third appointment for our first fitting. This was exciting because we were seeing the dresses for the very first time! They were gorgeous! Greatly made! Each bridesmaid tried on their dress while Sharifa marked for additional alterations because of all the weight we lost since our first appointment of measuring. Shame on anyone for giving a bad review! She is The incredible !!! The owner is so welcoming and knowledgeable on todays fashion! ! Very professional and stylish!! I walked in here wit no appointment 3 weeks before my wedding day and she turned what was an originally 3 sizes too big, short sleeve , (open back)  wedding gown, into a long sleeve ALL LACE , (closed back) with beautiful buttons  running down, and fitted (mermaid style) , it turned out to be the dress of my dreams!!!! The dress made me look more curvy than I really am!! Just GORGEOUS!! And not to mention, the price was unbelievingly affordable!!! You can't beat it anywhere especially for lace!!! I had the best first time experience today at House of Couture, I brought in a bridesmaid dress that was too big in some areas, tight in others, too long and overall did not fit well with my 5 month pregnant stomach. Sharifa was amazing and took time to give me options of different ways to make me more comfortable without breaking the bank. She was so friendly and professional. So very helpful and top quality work while also being quick, I had a dress custom made recently { it was a dress from a cartoon show that I needed } and even though I was only able to give one reference picture and the deadline I needed it by was only one month, the dress she made was absolutely perfect and an exact replica finished in a couple of weeks.
