The service was non existent but when we told them we had one hour the service turned right around. The food was good - the dumplings were tasty, the pad thai yummy and the lemongrass chicken with drunken noodles was mixed. The noodles were spicy and good the chicken was meh.The problem came after we left - my husband got the msg reaction he hasn't had in a long time. Regretfully we won't be back. If you are sensitive to msg beware. More...

If you value customer service, stay away. I am compelled to write this review in regards to the service provided by your usual counterperson who takes most of the phone orders and payments upon pick up, (I'm sorry but I have never asked him his name). This person has been working there for as many years as I have been patronizing this restaurant. This person is rude, pompous and does not value a repeat customer. I have literally spent thousands of dollars frequenting Thai Stories over the years from frequent weekend take out orders to catering several large events and have all the receipts to prove it. Last week I ordered a rice noodle soup which I have order many, many times before. Upon arriving home, the broth soup container was half the size as usual. Thinking it was an honest mistake, I called the restaurant and the counter person was rude and combative as to that's always been the size and told me if I did not like it to email the owner, which I did and never received a response, not to mention the rice noodle soup is $16.I typically don't write complaints as I do not have the time to put into such efforts, but I felt I needed to here as this is not the first time this person has been that rude with me. Several years ago, I called to order a Pad Thai, a Drunken Noodle and an Eggplant Basil. I hung up the phone and exactly one minute later I called back to switch the Eggplant Basil to a Yellow Curry. This same person would not let me switch the order and told me I would have to pay for it regardless. I was dumbfounded and swore I would not repeat my business but after some time I thought maybe he was having a bad day and gave him the benefit of the doubt.Well, unfortunately this is it, I cannot in good conscience go back to Thai Stories. I always want to give a business owner an opportunity to fix an issue before posting a review on line, and I never got a response. I cannot stand a business that does not value their customers. Definitely a swing and a miss. I really wanted to like this place because it's close to home and so many people said good things about it. I honestly can't give this place a good review in any category. My problems started when I tried to make a reservation. Their online reservation system only accepts reservations for 5-10 people so I had to call. It took nearly 10 minutes, first because I was asked to hold while she tended to a customer. Every time she returned to me, and I started to speak, she then told me just a minute and continued with the customer who was in front of her. When she finally focused on me, there was a huge language barrier. I repeatedly told her the date and time and number of guests but she kept asking me again and again. I finally got through to her and asked her to repeat it because, by that point, I just didn't trust that she had gotten it right. Thankfully she did, since it was my friend's birthday and I was taking her to lunch to celebrate. When we arrived, the place was full, which I took to be a good sign. We got the last table and looked at the menu. Lots of good choices, for the most part, but limited vegetarian options. The lunch special was out because the soups both contained meat and/or fish. We decided to split a papaya salad and order 2 entrees. This was also not feasible. While not listed on the menu, we were informed that the salad contained fish sauce. I am not a Thai cook, so I can't explain why papaya salad needs fish sauce, but I can tell you that we couldn't get it without it. We decided to skip straight to the entree. My meal was solidly disappointing. I should have known better when I ordered and she smiled and said "healthy." I ordered the param special and received a dish with some steamed vegetables, and 4 triangles of uncooked, room temperature, tofu, with peanut sauce and white rice on the side. I had to ask for a second dish to plate the rice and vegetables on. Come to think of it, we had to ask for everything. My friend was horrified and asked if that was what I was expecting. I asked if the tofu could be stir fried or anything could be done with it and I was told "that's the style." I buried it in the other stuff but it was definitely not enjoyable. I decided that I would figure out what to do with it when I got home. We both asked for extra peanut sauce. We got 1 ramekin in the middle of the table and had to ask for another. That's when the server's smile started to fade. When it came time to wrap our leftovers, I asked for plastic containers. She had brought them to the next table (along with cardboard and a small metal container with a plastic lid). We got 2 cardboard containers. I had deliberately asked for plastic because I didn't want to deal with a leaking mess and I had a lot to pack into it. She took away the cardboard and came back with 2 metal containers. That worked for my friend, but it was too small for my meal. I asked, for the third time, for a plastic container. I finally got it. Good thing too because after putting the rice in the bottom, it was a tight fit for the rest.I should tell you that I almost never complain about a place but this place really worked hard to get me to right a negative review. I also tend to overtip. I always start with 20% and work upward for excellent service. Today's tip was closer to 10%. Dining out should not be this much work. Next time I will stick with the places that I know are good. More...

Very good Thai food! Exceeded my expectations since I wasn't sure we'd be able to find good Thai in the area. The drunken noodles, panang curry, and ginger chicken were delicious. The drunken noodles were my fav and the ginger chicken was my husbands fav. Restaurant felt clean and the staff was very friendly. We'll definitely be back. More...

I have been here a few times and have always loved the food. Pad Thai is perfect and they have made special made items for my grandchild which is helpful. The crab ragoons own's are all made with real crab meat inside. And the rice balls and foe soup is out of this world.. They are always very busy however the restaurant is small therefore, not holding too many people. If you can wait and enjoy the food! More...

Absolute gem. Cozy dining room, wonderful staff and good solid choices in the menu. They even accommodated my small request for sticky rice with my Beef Pan Fried entree. Good portions that are plenty and satisfying without over serving plus full of flavor. And the Thai Tea is legit, not a powder. All in all, worth the drive out to Woodbridge for a great meal. Food here is really lovely. I get take out lunch specials on occasion, and I find them wonderfully made and in generous portions. I've not finished a lunch in one sitting yet! Looks like they have a great happy hour deal too - 99 cent glass of house wine with any appetizer order. Will have to try that! Tom yum soup was a little salty today but I posted 5 stars because it was still very tasty with two big shrimp in the bowl. Thanks Thai Stories. More...

I love this place. Food is great. Decor is really nice. The BUT is coming . The waiter is the worst waiter ever! He has got to be related to someone to still be working there. He has a major attitude. I went there with my family. We were going to spend easily over $100 and he charged us $1.00 for a plastic cup for our toddler to drink water from! More...

One of my favorite places to go for a delicious meal on a weeknight! The good is delicious, the decor is calming, and the servers are always courteous. Every dish I've tried on the menu has been wonderful. Even the house wines are enjoyable. These people take immense pride in this restaurant, their food, and their establishment and it shows. Had to show my love on Yelp because they deserve it! More...

This was my second visit to the Thai Stories. The first time I ordered the pad see ew, soup and dumplings which were all delicious, and the portions were decent for the $11 lunch special. Tonight I ordered the crying tiger dinner. For $18 I received a very small portion of steak (maybe 4-5 oz) served over wilted lettuce and partially spoiled tomato wedges.I did eat the steak which was decent, however, way overpriced. I contacted the restaurant and nothing was done to resolve the issue. More...
