I have never felt photogenic a day in my life until I visited Robert in his studio. I grew up an athlete, the son of a small-town woman who was for many years a single mother hell-bent on not letting the lack of a father figure turn me “soft”. So it was during those awkward developmental teenage years while my peers worried about their ears being too small or their noses being too big I was shoving tampons in my bloody nose and having coaches and family friends drain and lance my cauliflower ears (on numerous occasions). Many of us worried about our weight, though my forced vomiting was a last-ditch tool to make weight rather than an obsession of my body image. During the “metro” phase while many of my friends were waxing their eyebrows I was getting mine stitched up in the middle of wrestling tournaments. Confession time though… Behind that tough-guy persona all the typical teenage insecurities still lurked, and is totally when I started plucking my uni-brow (which I still continue to do to!).As the years advanced my hairline receded, and the transition from bi-weekly haircuts to weekly head-shaves was embraced with a mostly utilitarian attitude as a savings of time and money. Wind-up cameras went digital, professional graduation pictures turned into professional headshots, social media came and along with it the incessant requests for retakes (I’m looking at you, ladies!), and never did a single person capture a picture of me where I was even a little impressed. I always just kind of smiled and shrugged it off- I’m a meathead, just not the photogenic type, and I was content with that.It wasn’t until I visited Robert in his studio did I ever really feel… Dapper.It took him less than 60 seconds to make a few equipment adjustments and give me some simple and helpful suggestions, all the while firing off shots like that “show me love” scene in Austin Powers (he did NOT say that lol), and before the minute-mark hit he turned around his laptop and showed me… Me. Not the “me” I see in pictures, but the “me” I see in my mind. People who get their picture taken for a living might be rolling their eyes at this, but for me it was wild- I literally blushed.This is my first ever Google Review, so if you can’t tell already I highly recommend his services. As a working professional I have had to invest God only knows how much time and money into cheesy-smile professional headshots which have never felt like anything more than a chore, but let me tell you right now this guy is a wizard at what he does.
