Steve Fanning was great to work with! He was quick with responding to any of my questions via, txt, email or phone msg’s. And more importantly, while shooting my wedding, he was receptive to any any special requests I had for a certain look or angle for a photo. Cancelled my enrollment after 2 sessions when I realized the trainer had no better of an idea what to do than I did and had to beg for my refund while encountering the rudest manager. I’ve loved this PetSmart for years, and have been a reoccurring customer. Unfortunately just recently I noticed a change in atmosphere, not sure if it’s new management or not, but I was in the store recently and the female manager was very rude. Not just to me, but to the customer in line in front of me, as well as another employee. This behavior was beyond unacceptable in my opinion... and I am sure in the opinions of the other customers that witnessed as well as the staff.I will not be returning, and will be taking my business elsewhere. Always very friendly staff who offer to help, especially during the week days. Grooming stay have been very polite and accommodating. Prices are fair to med-high and selection is great. They often have adoptable cats from the local humane society. Sometimes cashier line is slow, so don't expect to pop in and out quickly or you may be frustrated. My fur baby loves PetSmart. I have taken him to another groomer but was told to take him here and he loves the groomers. They are very caring and knowledgeable of his needs and the last time he was favoring his back leg and couldn't stand for long periods of time and Bridgette made him feel calm and comfortable. The store is clean, well stocked with friendly staff. We make a point to go to Brittany M. in the Grooming Salon. She is AMAZING with my 65lbs. MalShep. Rachelle was AMAZING!! 10 STARS for HER!! She answered all my questions, gave me great and very accurate info about Guinea pigs. She helped my children learn how to safely hold one, she took my disabled child's needs in stride. My first interaction was with her on the phone, then we went to the store to look at the Guinea pigs, she greeted us told us what we needed to get started and what we should consider having to be successful owners. We went back today and bought the rest of the things we needed and we bought TWO happy pigs!! Rachelle spoke to the kids like the people they are she discussed what they would name their pets. We are SUPER HAPPY with our experience thanks to Rachelle. And when another customer ignored her instructions and dropped the hamster she had let them hold it of course ESCAPED! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Quality, composition, lighting, personality, style, feeling, and timing. A great photograph should speak to the viewer.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The first question I ask regarding hiring a professional photographer or video creator depends on the clients needs, so I ask why they are needing photographs or video. Answers vary from creating memories, capturing an event, professional branding, etc.
Before moving here to Hawaii, I visited here for years as well as other places around the world since the mid 60's. Enjoying the great photos from those times have outlasted the actual experiences I had when I was there. People spend $1000's to go some place with their family or to an event but memories alone fade. The photos, good photos, can revive those memories forever.
I am a man of faith and strive to provide you with a product that is better than you hoped for. Hiring me is not a cost, it is an investment. I strive to make your photographs become more valuable over time.
Specifically, I then ask for a list of your basic needs; your"shot list" so to speak. Then I want to know what other photographs or scenes you hope I capture during the session. My goal is to take the photographs you want and the type of photos you want- or video. My goal is to capture them and not only meet but exceed your expectations.
What do you love most about your job?
My parents taught me to invest in memories. I have a job where I create tangible, inspiring, nostalgic, life-long memories. I love capturing people, scenes, moments, and motivational messages that will create a lasting impression. Long after the memories of a vacation, fun event, meaningful convention, birthday party, wedding day, anniversary dinner, you name it, fade... there will be that one photograph you will gaze at years later that bring back the joy and meaning of a cherished moment in your life. That is why I love my job.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Photography has been my passion my entire life and was told I had "an eye" for it. From a very early age I saw the impact a quality photograph or video has on everyone. So I have spent my life perfecting my craft. My first 'gig" was at age 16. A book publisher used my photo for its cover.
I have photographed for over 300 real estate properties, 2000 television commercials, several documentaries, and worked with hundreds of families, businesses, churches, and non-profits. I believe God gives each person a gift and photography is mine. In the beginning, I had to shoot with all manual settings, on film, and from all over the world. This helped me greatly to not only know how to take pictures but know why some pictures look better than others. It has been my full time job for over 40 years.
I continue my education through the Internet and blogs. When a book finally comes out in print, technology has made it a history book. 90% of what I use and how I use it wasn't even invented when I graduated from Baylor University in 1981, where I majored in what they called "Radio, TV, Film." The bottom line is you ultimately have to know where and how to point the camera in both posed and candid photography. Composition, lighting, and timing determine a good photo from a great photo.... or video.
There is small difference between good and better. There is a vast difference between better and "the best."
Why should our clients choose you?
I put myself in your shoes and create photographs or videos as if I was creating them for your family or business. My goal is not to be known as a "great photographer." My goal is to create great photographs and/or videos for you. You are what should be featured; more importantly, your family, your personality, your business, your products, and your message. "You" are remembered by what others see and hear about you. Remember "Show and Tell" in school? Show rather than tell, to be remembered.
Finally, we like to have fun! I want you to enjoy your photo session or video project. After all, the more you are enjoying the experience, the better your images will turn out.
