The staff and volunteers were wonderful people yesterday while me and my sister were looking for our new best friend. They obviously care so much about their animals, and the woman in the front room (please forgive me, I never got her name) was so helpful picking out the best dog to suit our needs. This place is part of our family. Our Zooey was there for day care weekdays for more than two years, when She died last year, I was devastated. Just two weeks ago, they helped us adopt our sweet Wendy Willow who is the perfect new member for our pack. Did I mention our other dogs are also from here. I'm from out of state, but I personally witnessed what this amazing place does for these dogs. I was a foster for a dog from one of the Korean meat farms. I worked hard with him for months, but he needed more than my family could give. South Hills agreed to take him. in just a few months they had him ready to be adopted, and he was placed with a wonderful family. They kept me updated on his progress, and for that I am extremely grateful. I love that beautiful boy, and am so happy that this rescue was able to give him exactly what he needed. This establishment is several business operations in one location. They hold dogs for the courts, they operate a public dog kennel, they "rescue" dogs rather than seeing them euthanized, and they put some of the dogs up for adoption. I would think that anyone interested in owning a dog would be more interested in the temperament of the individual orphan more than what the animal looks like or the breed. Go in and talk to them... let them match-make for you. Do NOT look at a picture or two online, read a few fluffy sentences and get your heart set on your perception of who the dog is.If you visit a dog South Hills Animal Rescue and it bites you, two things are sure: 1) you shouldn't go back the next day to see the same dog, and 2) YOU had something to do with the poor interaction.My family adopted a dog from here and found the organization to be quite trustworthy and concerned with safety in ways we hadn't even considered. SHPR is great! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have in sight on who they have currently and who they have coming in the future. You can't go and browse the animals they have, as when we were there we heard that asked alot, but if you have an idea of what your looking for they will match you up with a good match.
