I came to Sola Pasta Bar on NYE and had an absolutely love dinner. The wait service was friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgeable of all items on the menu, offering suggestions based on taste and price for both wine, cocktails and food. The restaurant is dimly lit (perfect for an intimate date night) and bar seating and tables surround the open view kitchen so you're able to see the chefs at work (can only see if sitting at the bar, at the table your view is your lovely guest)We opted to try the 5 pasta dish tasting. For $65 you are able to taste 5 pastas that the restaurant pre-selects. My date is allergic to shellfish so rather than the squid ink pasta, the chefs whipped up a special pasta dish in lieu of it. Prior to the pastas we were served bread and olive oil, pretty standard. Would've loved it if were accompanied by balsamic vinegar but the olive oil was fine. I honestly didn't eat too much bread to prepare for the 5 pastas. The cacio e pepe was by far my favorite, I could've licked the bowl clean. The perfect blend of butter, cheese and black pepper mixed into fresh al dente pasta. The aglio olio needed a splash of salt but the garlic, chili and sun dried tomatoes reigned supreme. The lasagna di verdure caught me by surprise! Didn't think I'd be a fan of spinach pasta and yet again, licking the bowl clean. The gnocco was thick yet fluffy and melted right in your mouth. Yum!Overall, I believe $65 is well worth it for the 5 pastas, I was stuffed after the third! The tiramisu was light and creamy and I highly recommend.Great job Sola! More...

The service was top notch with great food and awesome cocktails. I had 3 disches, 2 cocktails and it was around $100. That is an exceptional price and service for the area. The place is kinda small but cozy.

Pasta bar with a very "NYC" feel. Open kitchen in center, dim lighting and going out music. Really cool vibe. Try the cacio de Pepe, artichoke appetizer and the truffle salad! Sooo good! The appetizers were super creative. They were a little late in getting our table (honestly we didn't even notice) but offered us free dessert from the menu because of the wait! Went out of their way which was super appreciated More...

More...

I ate here back in March and just came back to the city and I am making my way there now. I ordered the cacio e Pepe. Now for those who know, cacio e Pepe translates to cheese and pepper. A traditional cacio e Pepe sauce is make out of pasta water, olive oil, pepper, salt and cheese. The pasta is then tossed in and the starches make the sauce thick and creamy. That is what I tasted when I ate this pasta. The noodles were al dente and the perfect temperature. The Parmesan was perfectly fresh and creamy. Please go here. It's insane. More...

Scene-y pasta restaurant in Soho serving up fresh pasta in an open kitchen format. Quality of food is indeed top notch, but the vibe feels more like a club than a restaurant conducive to dining. I've come here for lunch a few times and in the last year they've seriously jacked up their prices. For lunch, the pasta is quite a bit on the pricey side. I've had the cacio e pepe and the garlic one before and the pasta quality is so good. It's so spring-y and chewy and well done. They have a $19 lunch prixe fix lunch special hidden away as a very tiny sentence on the top of the lunch menu. It include a salad, the pasta of the day and the cannoli. Holy cannoli the cannoli was an unexpected highlight of the meal. I mean the pasta is great and I love myself some prixe fixes but this cannoli was the perfect companion to the meal. There's both bar seating where you can watch the chef in action or table seating. I generally go for the table seating because I find the bar a little awkward. Service was okay, but felt a little pretentious to me. After we didn't get wine the waiter kind of brushed us off. I work close by so I'd likely come back for the lunch special, assuming they don't get rid of it, but otherwise this place, given the numerous other Italian restaurants in the area, is just not worth the value. The food was good and if you can sit at the bar, it's always fun to watch them make the plates. However, we did feel somewhat rushed by our waitress. I get that it was a Saturday night and busy but we shouldn't get the check before we ask for it... More...

This is a beautifully decorated, unfussy, intimate spot. This is the perfect place for those who want to unwind and relax and have the temperament to wait for a delicious meal to be prepared. The food was delicious and the portions although small were very filling. The BYOB option was the icing on the cake. This is a new hidden gem and i hope it keeps its appeal as it becomes more popular. More...

Great pasta!!! unfortunately the waitress had an attitude. I asked for regular water and she poured me flat bottle water. When I said I didn’t ask for a bottle of water she did I didn’t specifically ask for tap and gave me a very hard time and didn’t give up the attitude for my entire meal.

Love the pastas at Sola Pasta Bar. The Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe is their most popular and creamiest of the pastas here. Loved every bite. Other pastas like the 24K Gold Spaghetti Ricci are so beautifully made and tastes incredible. The venue is very cool and airy. Sitting at the bar will get you front row seats as you watch the chef in action. This place can be a little pricey and for the portions given, you might leave hungry if you come with an appetite and only order 1 or 2 dishes. But for the flavors in these pastas, it’s definitely worth coming here for. Didn’t try their drinks but they’re very big on drinks here. I’ll definitely come back for that and some more pasta More...

Great Pasta dishes both Standard and Signature dishes. But please be warned that the music level is extremely high and they even have a neon sign that says something like " Ramp up the Music". After awhile, you somehow get used to it but luckily, we were only three people so we could hear each other.I would recommend this place for two people who can sit around the Pasta Bar to talk, which is really what I noticed. But again, the Pasta dishes were very good. More...

Amazing pasta. It was cooked perfectly and had the most amazing texture. I make my own semolina pasta at home and theirs was way better than mine. The sauce made with pecorino was so smooth and creamy but not heavy at all. and the pasta they paired with their bolognese seemed to grab onto the sauce (can’t remember the name) but wow! Exceptional. The best meal we had in NYC by far. Please open one of these in San Francisco!! More...
