Wow! We stumbled upon this delicious BBQ place! We've tried the brisket, ribs and pulled pork. So Ono... like they satu in the islands! Don't forget the sides... I'm always on the lookout for good BBQ, and it's nice that in Hawaii we are getting more and more options. So when I was in Kihei not too long ago, I settled on this joint. The wagon shares a lot with a seafood place and what I think was a shave ice stand. There was plenty of off-street parking.It was a blazing hot day, made worse by pavement and a lack of shade or much greenery. You have to walk over some gravel to place and get your order. The window of the truck is very high; I could barely reach it.They do take credit cards. The owner is nice and chatty, and was busy flirting with the young women in line in front of me. Since I never know if I'll be back to a BBQ place, I always go for a sampler plate. The three meat option set me back $25, but the portions were generous and could easily feed two, or maybe even three if their appetites were light.I don't care for coleslaw, so I asked for a double heap of potato salad. But my request was forgotten and I ended up with coleslaw anyway. I was told I could change it, but I didn't want to waste food. The owner said it was pineapple coleslaw and that people who didn't like coleslaw liked it. (I didn't care for it.)There were some tables and chairs but no umbrellas or shade. I was told the unbrellas kept getting blown away or stolen. I didnt want to eat in the car so I sat at one of the tables and hoped for a breeze.The meats I chose were brisket, chicken, and pork ribs. The brisket was best, soft with a nice smoke ring. I tried the house-made BBQ sauce; it was the thin and vinegary type. It was okay, but mostly I went without it.The chicken is usually my favorite, but it came in second here, being a little on the dry side. The biggest disappointment was the pork ribs. The meat was really tough and had to be dragged away, kicking and screaming, from the bone. (It should fall right off.) I liked the potato salad.If I ever go back here, I'll just order a half-pound or pound of brisket by itself. More...

Best brisket on Maui hands down.. Brisket here is fire. Way better than fat daddy's. If you're looking for brisket on Maui, proper tender melt-in-your-mouth brisket, come here. Smoke & Spice is a trailer type/food truck restaurant. Roll up the counter and place your order. Very decent serving sizes, I had a huge meal for under $20 incl. drink. We were finally able to make it to Smoke & Spice Maui, and we couldn't be happier. We live in Kihei, but our busy schedules have kept us from getting to this Awesome truck! Another fantastic lunch in Maui. This red food truck is easy to spot and serves up fantastic bbq. Two of us ordered the brisket and raved about it! The pineapple coleslaw is unique and delicious. Everything here is allergen friendly - gluten free bbq sauce, gluten free beans, gluten fee rub. Chicken has that lovely long smoked flavor. This place is absolutely amazing this guy knows how to throw down some BBQ. This guy has an amazing story of how he got where he is today. If you are ever in Maui he is located in Kehei just steps from the beach. You can't beat his food or prices. He is a local business owner and works hard everyday, he was even at work during 4th of July when he could have been home with his family. Support your local business owners. Stopped by this food truck on our way back from snorkeling. We had a taste for pulled pork and Smoke & Spice Maui definitely fit the bill. We ordered up a couple of pulled pork sandwiches with the pineapple slaw along with a brisket sandwich. We enjoyed everything except for the beans which were a little bland for our taste but not bad. John is super friendly and took care of us while sharing some insight about the island and tidbits about the Kiawe (pronounced kee-ah-vey) wood he uses to smoke his BBQ. Wonderful barbecue. I am an Austinite and appreciate a well smoked meat. Unbeknownst to me, Maui is covered in Keawi, a mesquite wood. We came to maui last year and found this truck at the kihei fourth Friday event - it was the best meal we had during our entire stay. We had it a couple more times while on the island - just as good every time. We booked another trip for Feb '19 and talked about how we couldn't wait for more. Came across the stand at the 4th friday fair in Kihei. I was immediately inticed by the magnificent aroma coming from the smoker. I whipped out my $13 quicker than a bat out of hell and ordered 8oz of just briscut hold the sauce. Upon the very first bite, I knew this was a decision that had changed my life for the better. The meat was incredibly delicious and the fat melted in my mouth like butter! The meat was so frikin good that there was no reason for any sauce. After finishing the first 8oz, the only logical course of action was to head right back and order another. $26 later and 1lb of beef gone and I still want more! I am currently a very very happy man! Brisket and pulled pork are smoky and tender and the rib on the brisket is very flavorful. In case you're wondering if a BBQ place in Maui in Kihei is going to have the quality that'd you'd find in Austin, for example, this one sure does have the quality and flavor like good Texas style BBQ. Brisket can be really hit and miss. The best I've had is from Austin and also had some very good ones in GA and TN. This one stands its ground with the best ones. Today, I finally made it for lunch here.Service: I was welcomed and served by Chef John at the lunch trailer counter. He was very attentive and friendly. Grindz:I ordered their BBQ brisket and sides plate lunch.Awe so delicious and tender the brisket. Reminded me of Rudy's BBQ in Austin, TX.The pineapple coleslaw was actually good. It worked out with the flavors blending great. Props for Chef John being adventurous and putting an island touch.The pinto beans were winners. It really brought me back to Texas. Wife and I were walking around the area and decided to check the food truck section- we smelled BBQ and decided to give it a try (as we always crave BBQ- we cannot find good places in Miami, not a single one! ).We got offered a taste of brisket and boy! I was looking for some BBQ and this place hit the spot. I ordered the two meat combo- brisket and pork, with beans, potato salad, and pineapple slaw. First off I'm not a slaw guy, but the pineapple slaw was absolutely amazing, the right combo of sweetness.The pork was good and the brisket was even better. I couldn't cut the brisket with my fork but it was still mouth watering.I added a side of mac and cheese and thank God I did. It was creamy and had chunks of brisket in it! This food truck has quite possibly the best smoked brisket and chicken I have ever eaten, in the top 5 for sure. Anyone who knows chicken knows the best way to cook it is to leave the bone in for flavor and that's what this guy does, the spicy dry rub is amazing, just enough to work through the skin into the meat for the flavor that makes you want more. The brisket.... ahh the brisket....To many hide the meat in a bbq sauce, not this guy he does the meat justice with a delicious dry rub and then smoked to perfection. Had the brisket plate with ribs. The ribs were very tender & flavourful they had a really good dry rub on them. The brisket was juicy & you could taste the smoke on it so good. We stopped by and bought 1 pound of pulled pork along with some barbecue sauce. The guy was extremely nice and we were talking about the hurricane that just hit the islands. He said he had stocked up so he could help feed the community if the hurricane ended up being devastating. By the grace of God this part of the island was spared but this man is a hero in my book to have planned ahead like that. The pulled pork we got was excellent. Very tender and flavorful. The bbq was right on with perfectly smoked meats and sides that complimented the entire meal. I'm not a overly smoked bbq dishes but S & S hit a perfect smoke ring. I've had bbq all over the country and this ranks up there. The portion was big enough to feed two easily.
