Every time I visit NOLA I come here for a meal. I'm never disappointed. Last night I had duck breast that was amazingly tender and the mango cheese cake was divine. Service is great, wine selection is fine and prices reasonable. The harpest was a nice touch. I will come back in a couple of weeks. More...

It's been years since I had eaten at Silk Road but I had been hearing that chef Ganesh was back behind the stove... and I had loved his food years ago at Old Calcutta in the Riverbend. I stopped in after a nearby art show with a friend. We shared the samosas and some saag paneer. I also had tikka masala and my friend had something with eggplant. Everything was good and tasty.Service was fine and there was lovely live musician playing. More...

I ate here for lunch on Saturday at the beginning of service. No one was in there so we were able to get some awesome service. We ordered the samoas, tikki marsala, a duck dish, mango cheesecake, and another Indian dessert. The standout dishes were the duck and the mango cheesecake. These dishes were perfection! The tikka was okay, the chicken tasted a bit dry and not as rich as I could be. The Indian dessert was a cold dish that I wish would have been room temperature. It tasted like a syrup soaked cake donut hole which was pretty tasty if you like sweet sweet desserts. I just didn't understand the two toasted crackers. Also the presentation of the food was pretty! I'll be coming back to try other entrees. More...

Had a great time at Silk Road the other night. Love the style and ambience, the skilled harp player, the delicious food. ..I tried the Southern Indian red curry, naan, and a slice of flourless chocolate cake. The curry, which comes with jasmine rice, was rich with coconut milk and perfectly on point spice-wise. Hot, but not too hot. It contained a unique blend of veggies--peppers, potato, sweet potato, turnip, and squash, among others--and was beautifully presented. The naan came hot and buttered and complemented the curry nicely.I don't normally order dessert, but since a yelp check-in revealed a free one I had to try the chocolate cake... and wow, so glad I did! It was possibly my favorite item--dense, velvety, amazing, with raspberry and chocolate sauces drizzled just so.Wish this place was closer to home, but I'll probably be back nonetheless. Must try the samosas and the Thai green curry. More...

I bike by the Silk Road all the time and have been wanting to try it since I first saw it. The exterior is absolutely gorgeous! It's covered in overgrown jasmine and walking under the awning feels like walking through the jungle. The inside is a bit more conservative but still nice and welcoming. It's a small, dimly lit, romantic feeling restaurant. The night I was there they had a live musician playing throughout dinner. They do this weekly, so check out what day it is on the website. The drinks are a good deal, a glass of wine for ($6) and there's also a happy hour. The food was quite good. The ingredients were fresh and I love the mix of Indian and Creole dishes on the menu. The Jambalaya was a good size and came with a nice, side salad. The Saag Paneer could have been a larger portion, but tasted very good. It wasn't like the usual saag paneer I've had so I was surprised but pleased. This one had a tomato base and came with rice and naan.Check in on Yelp and get a free slice of mango cheesecake. It was really good and the mango really shone through! Creamy on top, chewy in the middle and crunchy on the bottom. A great way to end the meal. More...

Got a wild hair and stopped in around 8pm. The place was busy. A woman was playing the harp with her left hand and the piano with her right. The music was so relaxing we decided to stay and sit at the bar. The bartender gave great service. She recommended the calamari salad which was delish. We also had the chicken wings which come as 3 huge wings. The sauce they were in was Amazing. 007 Dr. No was playing on the big TV screen behind the bar. We drank, we ate and drooled over Sean Connery. What a great night. Will definitely be back! More...

This place has just become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Went for COOLINARY(an August food event in New Orleans with special menus) and had a lot. Thai red curry chicken, blackened drum with crab meuniere,, lemongrass crab bisque, and it was all amazing. Such great flavors and spice in everything. The lemongrass crab bisque was spicier than I expected. Really neat little place with nice ambiance and decor. Nice wait staff, and who I guess was the owner, hanging out in the dining room. Definitely suggest coming here. More...

A hidden treasure in the Marigny! If you're looking for a twist on traditional Indian food with a few other Asian cuisines thrown in, this is the place. My friends and I came here to try the Coolinary lunch menu and it was delicious. We tried the samosas and the crab bisque for appetizers and the red curry chicken and drumfish for entrees. I wish I had taken pictures but that wouldn't do the food justice for how good it tastes! Definitely recommend trying this place out. More...

Chef Ganesh is AMAZING!Did you know he also has his PhD in biochemistry I definitely think the chemistry plays a role in his food because the flavors are so complex and well-rounded and all of the dishes are a wonderful mix of sweet, spicy, and umami! This cute little spot in the bywater is dimly lit and cozy, definitely a cute date spot! They also have a wall of wine bottles you can purchase to go with your meal!We did the Coolinary menu, but Chef Ganesh has different specials all week including a tapas Tuesday and they even have live music (check their website for the schedule). There is limited seating so I recommend making a reservation! We got the Korean fried chicken wings and lemongrass crab bisque which is just the right amount of heat and the perfect temperature. Warms & soothes your throat with just a little kick at the end! Also, it's LOADED with crab chunks, so it doesn't leave you guessing if they added it or not! The Korean fried chicken wings were lightly fried, super crispy and the sauce on top was the perfect umami flavor! Both fish dishes come with Jasmine rice, and sauteed vegetables like squash, zucchini, peppers, eggplant and onions (again with a little kick)! Both fish dishes were perfectly cooked with a nice little crust from either the toasted sesame seeds with the salmon, or the blackened pan with the drum! They were also large, thick cut portions of fish and quite filling! The wasabi beurre blanc with the salmon is creamy, buttery, and just a little spicy! Really suits the salmon well! The crab meuniere with the drum was rich and buttery with thick chunks of crab in it! You'll feel super spoiled if you order these dishes!!!Their mango cheesecake is also a classic! Just the right amount of rich mango flavor & sweetness with a thick crust! I tried the gulab jamun, an Indian/Nepalese/Bangladeshi dessert of what I would describe as little cake balls (kind of like a cake donut), that were fried and then soaked in a rose flavored syrup, quite delicious!!! If you're looking for a new date spot to try, I highly recommend this!! More...

Decided to kick off Coolinary 2019 with lunch at Silk Road, which was a great decision.  We both had the Crab Lemongrass Bisque, which was sublime with just enough heat. I had the perfect Thai Red Chicken Curry, while my wife had the Blackened Drumfish with crab meuniere and veggies.  Both dishes were perfectly and exquisitely seasoned; we were only sad seeing empty plates being removed! Dessert was a White Chocolate Mango Cheesecake which was as scrumptious as it sounds. We really enjoyed talking with the chef and our server/ bartender Kevin, both very attentive and interesting.  Perfect way to start Coolinary - we'll be back! More...

I appreciated the carrier of vegan options on the menu and the portion sizes. The smoky eggplant dip was incredible, could've been my whole meal. I got the vegetarian sampler plate with lentils, chickpeas, and curried vegetables and was satisfied with it. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful.
